Sheena and the Rokkets - Shinku Pack

I'm on my second coffee and trying to get back into a regular rhythm following the ardours plane ride back.

I discovered this 1978 album when I was trawling through albums produced by Haruomi Hosono. It has a very Hunx and his Punx trashy punk sound - taking influence from the Stooges and Devo to name a few. Also features Haruomi YMO band members Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi on keys. Gosh that photo shoot must have been awful in the Laura Palmer esq plastic – “sorry just one more take please”.

This is their first album and I thought I might have trouble finding it, but by the end of the trip I had seen countless copies. I picked this up from the HMV in Osaka in a department store which in my view had one of the best soul funk sections I had ever seen, not completely raided, and the prices across the store for most things (unless you were looking for American 60’s / 70’s rock) were incredibly reasonable and at times under priced. The guys who served me (there were two, I don’t know why) were super excited I was buying this.
