The creatures of the mind.
Crawling through our every thought
The misery they cause when we lock them in.
The joy they cause when we release them.

We use them to generate love
We abuse them to generate hate.
Two creatures one the exact opposite of the other.
But both existing together inside.

We control the release of each.
The gentle shroud of love.
The dark blanket of hate.
To gain mastery of our domain.

We release the agony of hate.
When we’ve been caused great pain.
We lash out in haste to push all away.
Reveling in our own gloom.

We release the joy of love.
When met with the gentle embrace of another.
Reaching out to draw everyone in.
To embrace the joy of living.

The creatures battle in my head.
To gain mastery and release.
Who will have the upper hand.
Which will I release today.

Hate brings back the images of past.
Of the pain and harm caused by others.
Pictures of great pain and suffering.
Inflected by others on my soul.

Love draws on the many joys of my life.
The friends and loves of the past.
The friends and loves of the present.
The possibility of friends and love in the future.

Each pushes to be released into the limelight.
I weight one against the other.
Which shall I allow mastery over me today.
Which shall control my destiny.

The pain, joy, suffering and love from the past, present and future.
All weighing heavily on my mind.
I decide on todays fate for me.
Pushing one back down and releasing the other.
