1/ Last week, the CBC reported on Valleyview Public Library in Alberta—the slow takeover of a town by far-right municipal councillors, & the shuttering of its library, seemingly to prevent what they believe is the spread of “gender ideology.”

2/ In reality, the small library offers support and a place for the town’s Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) to play board games and eat pizza, and carries books that reflect the lived experiences of those same kids.

3/ We know that the majority of people living in Canada don't want to see public libraries close or 2SLGBTQ+ youth lose their community spaces. We want to show the staff of Valleyview Public Library, and all the kids who feel safe there, that they matter and that Canadians care about them.

4/ So what are we asking? It's simple.

5/ Theo, the GSA’s founder, told the CBC, “My idea of common ground is being able to exist in this community.”
