Trong Tin Mừng hôm nay, chúng ta được nhắc nhở rằng sự khôn ngoan của Thiên Chúa vượt trên các tiêu chuẩn của con người về công lý và phán xét. Chúng ta trải nghiệm một cách đầy đủ nhất khả năng yêu thương và sử dụng những phẩm chất cần thiết của mình để phục vụ cộng đồng. Chúng ta cũng trải nghiệm tình trạng của con người, và không thể tránh khỏi những sự bóp méo các dữ kiện nhằm biến những khuynh hướng và ý kiến của mình thành những sự thật chắc chắn. Điều này làm cho chúng ta khó có thể có được một bức tranh rõ ràng về những khác biệt giữa con người với nhau.
Dụ ngôn hôm nay cho chúng ta một số nguyên tắc quan trọng để suy xét. Trước hết, chúng ta được nhắc rằng tất cả chúng ta đều có giá trị như nhau trước mặt Thiên Chúa. Tin Mừng nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng “những người sau hết sẽ nên trước hết, và những người trước hết sẽ nên sau hết.” Điều này cho thấy Nước Thiên Chúa không vận hành theo những tiêu chuẩn mà con người thường dùng để đo lường thành công, giá trị hay phần thưởng.
Công bằng và lòng quảng đại
Khi chúng ta suy nghĩ về công lý và sự công bằng, chúng ta cũng cần nhớ đến lòng quảng đại của Thiên Chúa. Thiên Chúa không chỉ ban cho chúng ta những gì chúng ta “xứng đáng” nhận được. Ngài còn ban ân sủng, tình yêu và lòng thương xót của Ngài.
Nếu chúng ta chỉ nhìn mọi sự theo cách tính toán của con người, chúng ta có thể cảm thấy khó hiểu hoặc thậm chí bất mãn khi người khác nhận được điều mà chúng ta nghĩ họ không xứng đáng. Nhưng Thiên Chúa nhìn thấy toàn bộ cuộc đời của mỗi người.
Chúng ta được mời gọi sống với lòng quảng đại, thay vì ghen tị với những gì người khác nhận được. Nếu Thiên Chúa quảng đại với chúng ta, thì chúng ta cũng được mời gọi quảng đại với người khác.
Bài Tin Mừng hôm nay đặt ra một câu hỏi quan trọng: Chúng ta có thực sự tin tưởng vào sự công bằng và lòng nhân hậu của Thiên Chúa không?
Chúng ta hãy cầu xin để biết nhìn người khác bằng ánh mắt của Thiên Chúa, biết đối xử với nhau bằng lòng thương xót và quảng đại, đồng thời luôn nhớ rằng mọi người đều có phẩm giá trước mặt Thiên Chúa.
