In 1581, representatives of 17 Dutch states declared independence from the Spanish 🇪🇸 Crown .
Later, seven of these states united into a republic, ushering in a Golden Age of trade, art, and science while allowing local customs, dialects, and traditions to thrive.
The Dutch 🇳🇱 have learned the benefits of unity.
