It appears that I can follow accounts mutually from:
- mastodon <-> pixelfed
- mastodon <-> friendica

but I can't follow my pixelfed account from friendica (but the other way seems to work).

Is this right? should the last one work?

Yeah! I can even reply to your reply to my post that I can see (like I'm doing now... I hope).

@shalien

I can. I can even reply to your comment there. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my reply makes it back to Mastodon.

@shalien

the app logos on the right of each message showing which kind of app it came from, and linking back to the post on it's home server are a really nice touch.

@naught101 @Shalien

So it works for me to follow #Pixelfed accounts from #Friendica. If you copy a Pixelfed post in the search, the user's profile is displayed and you can follow them there.

@caos

True! Yes, I can follow via the mouseover popup on the username. Clicking the username takes me to pixelfel though. So maybe not a federation issue, but a UI/UX issue.

@naught101 @Shalien The bug only appears when searching for a Pixelfed account via the search box "add new contact"?

@freezr

Well.. not sure really how the accounts work on each service. And I guess the follow call is made server-side, so I can't debug it?

Also, I can see this comment! So I guess me not being able to reply from friendica.world is not a general problem, but maybe something specific to that server?

in reply to naught101

@freezr

Weirdly, I can't see your reply on friendica.world, but I CAN see my mastodon.social reply to your reply (though it says "unknown parent")

in reply to naught101

Also, I can see 3 reshares of this on friendica.world, including 2 from different mastodon instances and my own. On mastodon.social, it says there are 11 boosts, but I can only see 9, and they are all from various mastodon servers.
in reply to naught101

@❄️ freezr ❄️ also the posts do show a correct link to your home account page. It's restricted, I wonder if that's why your comment doesn't show up here?

@freezr I don't think there's any blocking involved in this instance, but that's good to know about the server/user block difference
in reply to naught101

@naught101 @❄️ freezr ❄️ I think this is also temporary because friendica.world is very overloaded and slow at the moment. You can speed it up by copying the URL of the post you are expecting into the search.

@❄️ freezr ❄️ @naught101 Friendica can also blocks servers, but friendica.world only blocks one (which is very below average).
in reply to naught101

Yes, you can.
you can usually connect between all software in the Fediverse

if you enter a link to a pixelfed post in the Friendica search, will it be found?

in reply to crossgolf_rebel - kostenlose Kwalitätsposts

Yeah! Someone on mastodon pointed this out too. I can follow my pixelfed account then, using the mouse over popup.

So, not a federation issue, but a UI/UX issue.
