Last weekend, I had an amazing opportunity to attend a "Blockbuster" LARP for the first time as a Valentine's adventure with my fiance that we've been planning to attend for over a year. It was the second best LARP event I have ever experienced (my birthday 'Disaster' is still my fav) hosted by Mooney Bin Entertainment based on the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. With over 100+ people plus staff, we crammed ourselves into a beautiful mansion and stepped into 1920s. There was ball room dancing, performer venues, Gambling, drinking, intrigue, murder, mayhem... and I think a wedding. So many people from ... technically ... all over the world came together to weave so many plots, connections, and stories in 3 days. It was wonderful and very difficult to not just sit and watch... which I truly like to do quite a lot. It was (and still is) very difficult to walk away from the world and the character I was lucky enough to share. It was so great to see people that I've played with before and make new connections. Often times it seemed, if you were very aware, you could share a twinkle in another's eye as if to say 'Can you believe we are doing this?' . Though my beloved and I rarely had scenes together, I dont think we could complain at all about that. Many lessons have been taken from this experience...
1 - I truly do need to lose weight
2 - There is performance and art in every single one of us
3 - Ghosts are real
4 - Taking care of each other is good medicine
5 - And Play .. no matter the age ... is ALWAYS a viable tool
