Tilaye Gebre - Tilaye's Saxophone With The Dahlak Band
Ethiopian saxophone master and staple of the Ethiopian jazz scene. Winning awards at 17, Tilaye was the guy you wanted in your band. He was part of the Dahlak Band and legendary Walias Band (I’ve posted before here). This album mixes jazz and reggae sounds. Most recordings are a one mic, live to cassette take and sometimes, as one can imagine the mastering can sound a bit grating. But not on this. This repress has been given a lot of love. I love the cover too.
