I'm sure if we wait another decade or two, a nimble competitor will arise.

I have a b&w and a color laser printer.
The first and last inkjet I ever used was a DeskJet 500 at work, and that was such an annoying experience I never bought an inkjet for myself.
I would buy a solid ink color printer if they still made them.

I use a laser printer at home, too.
My beef is more about the stagnation of that technology. I suspect that a post up thread has it right. This is probably more about barriers to entry by the existing crowd of bad actors in that space.
