so did i get this right:?
the main thingy is mastodon
the protocols are open
there is more (like friendica, diaspora, ...?)
my instances server fetches all that stuff from all the other instances (over time)?
so can mastodon users see my screaming into the void (i understand @endless screaming now)?
or can i just see their posts and interact with them, as my instance crawls anything available?
are there cutoffs / limits / if not shown after timeout never seen?
is there a way to get back to the post i tried to comment on which disapeas after i am finished typing (as coming from facebook i alsways type in an external editor, then paste, not to provide biometric typing data)...
aaand: i create my bubble over time by using #tags? or by the tags defined in my profile? or both? or is there anyhow some kind of algorithm filtering and selecting what to show (feels mind blowingly open but somehow lonely the same time)?
do i need followers or friends for it "to be like at ..."?
will somepwny even read or answer this?

@endless@friendica.world If you want to be global, the main thing is not, in fact Mastodon, but Misskey (there are many more users because Japan has fully embraced it). I see you from Sharkey (a Misskey fork). I don't think there are cutoffs for time - it's just that most people look for new posts. As far as getting back to a post - that depends on your client/instance/platform. I can't say for sure about Friendica because I've never used it.

Hi Arti, welcome πŸ‘‹

If you need help have a look at fedi.tips and feel free to ask!

Your instance notices accounts and posts based on what your instance's members do, there are also optionally groups and relays pushing posts to your instance. (An exact list is at fedi.tips/which-posts-and-acco…)

If your instance hasn't noticed something, copy-paste its address into your instance's search box to make it notice.

There is no algorithm, it's all posts from accounts you follow.
