I like engineering application development. I get an enjoyable amount of computer-touching and learn an absolute ton of weird science in the process. No web, no networking, no surveillance, no JavaScript, no whiteboarding hazing rituals in hiring, no AI. In a perfect world I would reduce the amount of Python and its infrastructure hell by an order of magnitude but sadly you can't have everything.

I went to log in every day to my SSA account (I receive social security disability payments) and there was an error every time you went to log in. And the system auto logs you off after like an hour.

@SimonCHulse The metal foil in question hasn't been made from tin since the early 20th century. It's made from aluminum/aluminium.
I guess unless NZ is still trying to use up some VERY old stock. Or maybe NZ is flush with tin reserves and it's actually cheaper to make the foil out of tin over there. But ours is definitely made from aluminum.

On weekends, I sleep downstairs with her to keep her company (because she is 18 and has arthritis and can’t pull her body up the stairs but really needs a warm body to cuddle with)
It also means she has all kinds of faces when I open my eyes but don’t immediately get up to feed her

Reminds me of Facebook when it started becoming popular. Random posts here and there, not much movement overall. The trickiest part is getting more people to switch. I feel like some "integration tools" would help a lot - you know, something that cross-posts content someone posts on FB here automatically, so that others can follow them here and not feel like they're missing out.
