We weren't exactly sure that we were ready for another dog since Neptune passed away, but this little lady has been tied up outside for the last five years. We wanted to get her out of that situation.
So far, her favorite spot in the apartment is a comfortable dog bed, or snuggled right up next to one of us.
We named her Io after one of Jupiter's moons.

While I too hope Florida (and the rest of us) starts taking climate change more seriously very soon from now, I don't really care who Florida voted for. Those people are in for a rough ride.
They are Americans. They are our neighbors. We need to support them & also not forget about North Carolina too.

It's ok. I was just quipping because I could. Basically, on the one hand, she's the only one willing to hear me speak in favor of safety for Palestinian civilians in Gaza without accusing me of being in love with terrorists (Hamas). On the other hand, she's refusing to vote and doesn't care that her doing that risks a Trump win, thus me being deported for not being a white Christian nationalist. Trump's the one who's in love with the Heritage Foundation/Russel Vought, who said he wants people like me deported. He'd totally get his way.
My take on it is this: get Kamala over the finish line and then daily remind her that her approach to the Gaza situation is completely wrong. Trump won't help the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, even a little bit, ever. I think there's still some room for budging with Kamala though, once she wins.

Exactly. Agree completely. It's a catch-22. I mean, her policies won't even directly help me or anyone as poor or more poor than me, but Trump would be worse, so I'm voting for her to do my part in tipping the Electoral College in favor of her, so Trump will lose.
As soon as she wins, the consequence is going to be a barrage of posts and letters and calls to the White House all about Gaza. She's working hard on a lot of good things that will help people who make more money than me, but that's not enough going forward. Headaches are in order for her, until she does the right thing and stops allowing Netanyahu to commit genocide. I like her personality and all, but yeah, she's got to get Biden to cut back on the blank check to Netanyahu.

My mom sent me this picture of me with a Ferengi at the Star Trek Experience when I was a teenager. What an amazing place it was! I still can't believe it was dismantled. Want a piece of PieFed? I'm now running a PieFed instance: feddit.online
A long time ago I had a #KBIN instance, feddit.online. KBIN is part of the "threadiverse", a Reddit replacement.
When KBIN was abandoned, I shut it down. KBIN became #MBIN and Jerry Bell opened a fantastic MBIN instance, fedia.io, to go along with the mother ship instance. I didn't see a reason to open yet another MBIN instance. So feddit.online remained parked ... until now.
Ending its time in beta, there is a new #Reddit #Fediverse replacement, #PieFed, which is similar to MBIN in how it works, but is built with different technology.
While MBIN is mainly written in PHP and Node, and uses RabbitMQ for queuing, PieFed is written using Flask/Python, with Celery for queuing.
I'm much more familiar with Python than PHP, and so PieFed is particularly interesting to me. I might even be able to contribute to the project someday when I get through learning the codebase and learning Flask.

feddit.online is available now. Registration is immediately available while I'm available to watch, but restricted when I'm not watching. If restricted, you just need to give a quick reason for joining and then be patient.
Also, some email providers have an issue with email addresses ending in .social, especially that come from a mail server hosted on Digital Ocean. If joining, check your spam filter and white list notitifications@feddit.online
Remember, it's beta. So there may be issues and there may be downtime at times to address upgrades and what not. Also, I've been so busy bringing up the server that I haven't had a chance to learn everything yet about it, so I may not have answers to questions.
It seems to run efficiently, but I'm unsure if I sized the server optimally. I will grow it if need be.
