Hello there!
I don't know if it is something that falls under the umbrella of what you want your app to accomplish, but:
Have y'all heard of Mangrove Reviews?
If so, is this something you would consider building support for in your app?
They are on the Fediverse: @Open Reviews Association
With enough patience it turns out you *can* pull the helicopter up to the gas station and refill your tank without blowing up!
Wanna help #PeerTube?
We need tests and feedbacks on our future mobile app!
Whether on iOS, Play Store or with an apk, download our test version and share your feedback on here: framaforms.org/peertube-mobile…
You have until dec. 8th to share, test and help us have a great release!

Hello my fellow #Fediverse #StarTrek fans.
Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo, and LeVar Burton recently joined Bluesky. I've sent them a message to see if they would use the Bluesky bridge.
@George Takei :verified: 🏳️🌈🖖🏽 is also there, but he also posts here in the Fediverse.
I am able to follow them from my Friendica server, but I wanted to let yall know in case you would be interested in adding the bridge to your account. I know how some people feel about it, but this message isn't for you.
From our side you would follow @Bridgy Fed for Bluesky

Hello!
I just wanted to let you guys know that the server instability has improved so much. Whatever you guys are doing, if anything, has helped.
I know this is controversial in the Fediverse, but would you guys have any interest in installing the Bluesky addon on this server?

Cross posting works fine. I really appreciate it.
I have tried the "use Friendica handle as bsky domain" option, but it keeps failing when trying to upload a file to a .well-known endpoint on our server. If it helps, I tried at around 21:17 CST.

Just discovered this really great tool for PeerTube called Sepia Search. It’s a search engine that indexes PeerTube instances all in one place.
I tried it out and it immediately found my videos with logical key-phrases. And it’s super fast. It also enables filtering by video, channel, and playlist.

I love this site. They have articles about all sorts of different topics! They also have some wonderful gifts that go well beyond the ordinary. This is also the home of Gastro Obscura, where they write about the most fascinating, delicious, and at times, bizarre foods from around the world. No, I don't work for them. I'm just a fan.

Has anyone ordered these "Firefly Petunias" before? They're by a company called Light Bio, and apparently the flowers glow in the dark.
I love plants and while this would be a cool addition, has anyone ordered one of these and found it to be a waste of money? Is there an ethical dilemma with ordering these?
From Scientific American:
"The firefly petunia glows brightly and doesn’t need special food thanks to a group of genes from the bioluminescent mushroom Neonothopanus nambi. The fungus feeds its light-emitting reaction with the molecule caffeic acid, which terrestrial plants also happen to make. By inserting the mushroom genes into the petunia, researchers made it possible for the plant to produce enzymes that can convert caffeic acid into the light-emitting molecule luciferin and then recycle it back into caffeic acid — enabling sustained bioluminescence."

We've been watching "The Politician" on Netflix. My husband was watching it without me until I noticed I had been standing in front of the TV for ten minutes because I had stopped to see what was going on. If you're bored and want a break from real politics, I would highly recommend it.

Two more PieFed instances
Recently there have been two more PieFed instances created, which offer accounts to anyone who wants one:
Feddit.online is hosted in USA which should make it a little faster for people there. It also has a different topic structure at feddit.online/topics than PieFed.social has.
Try PieFed - PieFed
Each instance (server) of PieFed shares content with each other and with the wider fediverse of Lemmy, Mbin, Mastodon and others. You can use any of the following instances to try out PieFed: Instance Location piefed.social Europe feddit.PieFed

Very cool Jerry! Incredible detail and response time.
As a fellow (though admittedly quite ashamed with our current geopolitical situation) USian, I'd like to swap to feddit.online as my daily fedi-driver if the performance/stability is decent, and if it's cool with you of course 😁
Only other question I have is--What is the intended purpose of feddit.online? Is it just a hobbyist project for fun?
Honestly, I am also ashamed to say I'm an American these days. I still can't believe how the election turned out. I am so distressed.
There are two reasons I opened feddit.online, and the other 9 public decentralized instances.
First, I want to do my part to promote publicly owned social media. I believe centralized, billionaire-controlled social media is messing up people's heads. Turning them into stupid zombies. They caused the political problems we face because they want more power and money. Nothing else.
Second is to get the technical experience. Running these websites has taught me a lot. And some day I'd like to focus this knowledge into helping Open-Source projects.
My other open servers are: Mastodon, Friendica, Peertube, Pixelfed, Matrix, XMPP/Jabber, Phanpy, Bluesky PDS, and Mobilizon. I also have 3 private servers (WordPress, NextCloud, and an Email server).
You're welcome to join. Everyone is. The light is on for you!

I’m not sure for faster. But once you’ve done the initial login (which is also very painless) you just give the path to the folder with the images you wanna upload and that’s it. The main benefit to me is being able to track progress easily and that you can resume uploads to the series in case your connection drops out!

The CLI tool is very sleek. Good upload status, colour use.
One can even track server-side processing from the CLI tool.

in reply to Mr. Funk E. Dude • • •@Mrfunkedude I'm sorry but your replies to this post are horrible. I agree that the app seems in an early stage, but they made it clear that it was the case. Giving feedback is great, but is it needed to be so aggressive ? You get this for free, and being respectfull (I'm not even saying kind, just minimum respect) seem to me like a minimum, and would actually give better results I am convinced.
I agree that being able to log in, selecting a custom instance is a must have though !
PeerTube
in reply to PP44 • • •Thanks!
Indeed log in & selecting instances are a must, and are planned.
Log in is WIP.
On instances : unfortunately, Google's and Apple's selection methods are very strict, random, and other fediverse apps have suffered from it.
We have had to start the beta publishing with a very limited selection of instances, as we are a new developer in their eyes.
We plan to add those freedoms after being cleared, through updates (and, obviously, with the future F-droid publi)
Mr. Funk E. Dude
in reply to PeerTube • • •I'm a little confused. Are you saying that you HAD to present the app to Google and Apple as a search tool for only a handful of instances to get approval for further development?
And this prevented you from working on a Log In?
@pp44
PeerTube
in reply to Mr. Funk E. Dude • • •@Mrfunkedude @pp44
No, these are two separate topics.
The limited number of instances is because Google and Apple's store are very touchy about the content of new apps from new devs, and we want to get though the first publication process.
The log in is not in the beta test release because we are working on it and plan to add it in the -near- future.

I know several people who *want* to use peertube regularly, but the lack of a mobile app is a barrier to entry. Currently there *no* iOS peertube client but several Android ones (Thorium, P2Play, etc), it is a serious problem for adoption that half the mobile market has no native app

I have a distinct feeling that most users will have no interest in actually joining a peertube instance if they only want to comment on videos, create playlists. They could simply subscribe from Mastodon and this would remove the "what is an instance? This is too complicated " that we heard adnausem about Mastodon.
