My mom sent me this picture of me with a Ferengi at the Star Trek Experience when I was a teenager. What an amazing place it was! I still can't believe it was dismantled. It was like a dream getting to walk on the small piece of the promenade that existed, Quark's included, as well as getting to be on the bridge of the Enterprise D.

The rise of Mastodon has made me so much more aware of government services requiring us to use private companies’ systems to communicate with them and access services.
Sitting on a Dutch train just now I was shown on a screen “feeling unsafe in the train? Contact us via WhatsApp”.
What if I don’t use WhatsApp? (I do, but I wish I didn’t have to) I’m forced to share my data with Meta to use it.
Public systems should not require use of private services.

Basically, on the one hand, she's the only one willing to hear me speak in favor of safety for Palestinian civilians in Gaza without accusing me of being in love with terrorists (Hamas). On the other hand, she's refusing to vote and doesn't care that her doing that risks a Trump win, thus me being deported for not being a white Christian nationalist. Trump's the one who's in love with the Heritage Foundation/Russel Vought, who said he wants people like me deported. He'd totally get his way.
My take on it is this: get Kamala over the finish line and then daily remind her that her approach to the Gaza situation is completely wrong. Trump won't help the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, even a little bit, ever. I think there's still some room for budging with Kamala though, once she wins.
I've posted to her YouTube - she/Biden should cut back monthly on gifts to Netanyahu until he takes them seriously.

in reply to jmcnaughton • • •Exactly. Agree completely. It's a catch-22. I mean, her policies won't even directly help me or anyone as poor or more poor than me, but Trump would be worse, so I'm voting for her to do my part in tipping the Electoral College in favor of her, so Trump will lose.
As soon as she wins, the consequence is going to be a barrage of posts and letters and calls to the White House all about Gaza. She's working hard on a lot of good things that will help people who make more money than me, but that's not enough going forward. Headaches are in order for her, until she does the right thing and stops allowing Netanyahu to commit genocide. I like her personality and all, but yeah, she's got to get Biden to cut back on the blank check to Netanyahu.
Thanks for understanding about all this, btw. It's not easy being American right now, probably for anyone here, really.
