My original neighbours left last year so I’ve now taken on the full plot.
It looks like chaos but I’ve cleared 3 loads of rubbish to the tip with more to go, including a broken trampoline and an endless amount of degraded plastic. The left hand hedgerow is also very over grown with lots of brambles. Now that I’ve cleared most of the rubbish I can hack all the hedges back next week. The tarps are all mine, seemed the easiest way to wrangle the first patch to make into a bed.

Before I planted any trees I’d agreed with the committee that 4 diseased unproductive plum trees needed to come out, and that when I took them out I’d replace them with new trees. This was originally the plan for when I had the one half with just two trees. But now I have both sides I’ve dealt with the left half too.
Tbh it felt like I was committing a crime cutting trees down but it was obvious by how soft the wood was in places that they didn’t have long for this world anyhow #allotment

I’ve been cutting the trunks of the trees into logs to make a log wall. And been attempting to make stakes out of coppiced hazel from the trees at the back to make surrounding supports for dead hedging where I can dump all the hawthorn hedge clippings next week.
In front of the dead hedge space there’s a big patch of mint in the ground with foxgloves and mullein, so I’ve bought some plug plants of extra native flowers and this will be left as a wildlife patch #allotment

Buff-headed Coucal
A large, long-tailed, thick-billed, uniquely patterned bird with dark blue wings, tail, and belly and creamy neck, chest, and head. Found in most habitats, most commonly in lowland forests. Often flushed from trackside vegetation. Otherwise inconspicuous, but regularly feeds on the ground. Unique within its range. Pairs give a back-and-forth “snoring” duet, ”urrrrh-uh,” but individuals give a range of barking and coughing noises.

Sonnet 085 - LXXXV
My tongue-tied Muse in manners holds her still,
While comments of your praise richly compiled,
Reserve thy character with golden quill,
And precious phrase by all the Muses filed.
I think good thoughts, whilst others write good words,
And like unlettered clerk still cry 'Amen'
To every hymn that able spirit affords,
In polished form of well-refined pen.
Hearing you praised, I say ''tis so, 'tis true,'
And to the most of praise add something more;
But that is in my thought, whose love to you,
Though words come hindmost, holds his rank before.
Then others, for the breath of words respect,
Me for my dumb thoughts, speaking in effect.

@Impish4249 you're not listening to what I'm saying, you're just trying to tell me you're a good person when I'm talking about what your generation has done to mine and how I can never forgive you all for it.
I'm telling you I wish I was never born into your Boomer world, and you're just telling me about yourself and how you must look to others.
Me, me, me, me, me. me
And like your generation, you have to tell me off, you have to win the argument, you have to dominate.
@Impish4249 yeah, that's what this is about, my 'joy at being insulting'
Right, this is going nowhere, so bye

Scientists are training the first generation of rats in Tanzania to detect illegal wildlife trafficked products.
Their research shows that African giant pouched rats can locate concealed wildlife products such as pangolin scales, rhino horns and ivory in shipments.
This innovative approach could reshape antitrafficking efforts and shed new light on the illegal wildlife trade.
