If you're looking for a server to join or move to, it's best to pick from a human-curated list:
- The official Mastodon site's server list is at joinmastodon.org/servers and its requirements for being listed are at joinmastodon.org/covenant
- I run an unofficial server list at fedi.garden and its requirements are at fedi.garden/about-this-site
It's a bad idea to use automated non-curated server lists as they do not have requirements, so they may contain unreliable or unsafe servers.

Also worth noting, if you want an instance that does not federate with Meta or, even better, promises to never federate with Meta, there's an automated list of instances that have either defederated Meta's threads.net, or have signed the fedipact to never federate with Meta. This matters since Meta/threads.net violates most instances' federation rules and/or standards but many still federate with them just because they're big.
Here's the list:
An interactive list to see which ActivityPub (Matodon, Lemmy, FireFish, etc) instances are federating with Threads.netfedipact.veganism.social
Just a warning that the list can get out of date, a lot more have been suspending Threads since Zuckerberg's pro-hate speech.
For example mstdn.social blocks Threads now, but the list shows it as federating.
You can check directly if an instance federates with Meta by going to the instance's website and then searching for @ zuck @ threads.net (without the spaces).
If Zuck's account shows up AND if you can see his posts, then the instance federates with Threads.

Black-throated Canary
A small, nondescript, streaky gray-brown seedeater with a lemon-yellow rump, white tail tips, and a variable dark throat (more obvious in the male). Pairs and flocks frequent thorn scrub, broadleaf woodland, scrubby patches in upland grassland, cultivation, and gardens, where they forage on the ground and in small shrubs and grass. The song is a complex collection of whistles and warbles, and calls include a simpler melodic one- or two-note “soooe-sweee.” The similar Reichenow’s Seedeater and Yellow-rumped Serin differ from Black-throated Canary by lacking a dark patch on the chin and throat.

Blue-cheeked Jacamar
Distinctive, oddly proportioned bird, with a small head and long needle-like bill. Green above and rusty below, with blue cheeks. The amount of black on the yellow bill is variable. Usually seen sitting quietly in the lower levels of humid forest and sometimes seasonally flooded forests, where it captures prey by flycatching. Sings a high-pitched “peea peea-pee-pee-te-t-t-e’e’e’e’e’e” that accelerates gradually and ends with a rattling trill.
