The World's Largest River is Running Low (Encore)

The region drained by the Amazon River, including the Amazon Rainforest, is in the second year of a punishing drought. That has lead to the lowest water levels in more than 100 years for the Amazon and its major tributaries. Millions of people and an array of wildlife depend on those quickly disappearing waters. In a story we first brought you in October, we travel to the region to see the effects.

Published posthumously, #JaneAusten's Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were published together in a four volume set on December 20, 1817. NA was finished in 1803 and is a send-up of gothic novels. Persuasion is Austen's last completed novel. Her family retained copyright of nearly 1800 copies which sold rapidly. Later editions of both novels were published independently. #AmReading #AmWriting @bookstodon

Oh, that was absolutely fantastic! What an amazing performance! It's the first time I saw a truly professional version of an Ivor Novello work, aside from the mess that was the Glamorous Night film, whose only saving graces were Mary Ellis and Trefor Jones. While I loved Perchance to dream and King's Rhapsody, both were amateur productions. This was how his works were meant to be seen and heard! And the woman who played Maria equalled Mary Ellis in her singing abilities,, including the amazing portemento and high notes! And Olive Gilbert not only sang but spoke as well! Dunstand Hart just sang, but judging by the script, that was probably how the original play was written, too. Overall, I would highly recommdns this not just to fans of Ivor Novello but to anyone who wants to see a romantic story with beautiful music, sung properly!

What is the best gift to give to your friends for Christmas? Well, if you're Ivor Novello, apparently, it's a professionally-recorded meddly of your music, with a Christmas greeting written out! Can you imagine recieving something this beautiful from a friend? Most of these people worked with him as well, so it was probably both friends and colleagues who received it, and, I'm willing to bet, his own mother.

Some Christmas traditions can be traced back centuries. Others come from families with stories attached. This one is entirely mine. It started many years ago, when I first heard this, and it's continued ever since. Here, then, is the original Jingle Bells. If you think you know this song, you're probably wrong, especially the chorus! Have fun, and happy Christmas! I hope your driving experience is better than that of this poor man. haha

Since this is the Fediverse, I thought it would only be appropriate that I post this. I just discovered it via Perplexity. It's a decentralised search engine, with at least seventy-three instances that agrigates results from at least seventy different search engines. I'm sure each instance uses its own, but still. I find this whole idea to be intriguing. Plus, the few I've tried are all free of clutter and work well with NVDA, from XP through 11

This is the main list of instances.

This is the one I chose.

Well, I've already seen an accessibility issue, at least with this instance. I went to Preferences, and I was able to change a few things such as language, unit conversion, etc. Then, I saw something else, about full/pretty/host for sites and a few other options. I set those. But when I tried to go back, I couldn't. Only The "General" tab was displayed, and I know there were originally a few others. Also, some categories are listed, but I can't seem to do anything with them. Can anyone enlighten me Is it just this instance or a program-wide problem, or am I simply not using the right commands with NVDA?

After a bit of research, I learned that TWBlue is open source, and that, while the current version is only for 64-bit machines, there is a 32-bit version. There is also a 32-bit version specifically designed to work with Windows 7. Whether that's the same as the regular one, I don't know, but it does exist. However, since it has some extremely important features that TWBlue lacks, such as editing posts and profiles, etc. I prefer TweeseCake. However, it seems that there is only a 64-bit version. Am I wrong? Is it closed source? I would love to be able to work strictly from my Windows XP or 7 virtual machines, but this is the one program I must use in 11, and I ultimately find myself using 11 for everything, which I don't wish to do. I don't know of any other truly accessible clients for Friendica, other than these two.

I have no idea why the post to which I'm replying just came through my timeline, but it did. It's actually above stuff that was posted less than a day ago but anyhow. In case you didn't see my original post on this which I sent mentioning you some weeks ago, let me quote it here. "you're quite right about Tweesecake not working with 7 in the normal course. I have it working with 7 here, but only because of VXKex. If you haven't tried that, it may be worth a shot. 1/2
in reply to Georgiana Brummell

github.com/vxiiduu/VxKex/ I had to use an older version of VXKex, but it did work. I have used TC on 7 for a good while without issue. Be careful with this since I know there has been some posting of modified VXKex versions with malware. If you want the file I downloaded back in March, let me know. I have only used TC on a Windows 7 64 bit system, not sure about 32 bit systems, whether 7 or XP. Note that TC does have a closed source. 2/2
