Scarlet-throated Tanager
Large tanager that resembles an icterid. Males are glossy black with a bright red throat, which is absent on females. An inhabitant of dry scrubby forest (caatinga), gallery woodland, and open areas, usually near water. Seen in pairs or small groups. Song also recalls icterids: a loud “chirt” repeated for long periods. Best distinguished from icterids by its blunter, more curved bill.

“The Starry Night” Follows Laws of Physics That Weren’t Discovered Yet
Art lovers have long known that the Dutch painter saw the night sky like nobody else — and now scientists know it, too.
Troubled artist or mad scientist? As it turns out, Vincent van Gogh might have been both — a new study reveals that the brushstrokes from his iconic “The Starry Night” (1889) align rather seamlessly with the laws of fluid motion in physics.

This is what I've been working on this year: An #NES #chiptune editor that uses a #Lisp interpreter as an interface. It's made with #accessibility in mind to address the needs of blind composers or folks who otherwise have difficulty with graphical interfaces, and is heavily inspired by #MML but hopes to bring a higher level of interactivity by using a live Lisp environment.
The audio playback engine is an actual NES emulator and exports music in NSF format as well as WAVE. Offers frame-level control of pitch, volume and duty for the 4 basic sound channels.
It still has a long way to go but the main pieces are in place. Feedback welcome!

It would be great if Dan changes his stance -- turning off open registration on pixelfed.social until he has the moderation situation under control would be an easy first step that could make a big difference.
And also, we really need to think about what we can collectively do to limit the damage to fedi as a whole.

Wait a second. 99% of Threads users haven't turned on federation so you can't maintain your connections with them. Threads blocks domains unless they have public feeds so if you want to turn a privacy-friendly platform like GoToSocial you won't be able to maintain your connections with your friends on Meta. You can't even export your followers lists!
But hey, it's a good story, and it feels like people have options. Mission accomplished, I guess!
