The amazing photos that Katja de Waart took at our shared conference with @alpinelinux are now online! 📸
We have two group pictures and many additional photos that were taken (after asking everyone in the frame, our photo policy) during talks and discussion sessions.

NexPhone, a Pocket PC-Smartphone Running Windows 11 Linux and Android, Launching in 2027
Nex Computer is the company behind the NexPhone, an upcoming smartphone that doubles as a pocketable computer running Android, Linux, and Windows 11. While the project was first announced a whole 14 years ago, Nex Computer recently published a development blog update revealing a Q1 2027 launch, indicating that the NexPhone will launch around March 2027.
I have questions

I only just found out this was even a thing. They can give 3 million to Nazi Linux but not maintain this? Fuckers.

@duckdotexe I moved my hosts to Linode, which belongs now to Akamai. The company is explicitly pro diversity and inclusion.
@bonkers @duckdotexe or [plug] fyra stack [/plug] 😛
we need more companies willing to stand up for diversity and inclusion generally, I didn't know Akamai was good on that, so that's great to learn!
@duckdotexe I checked it while searching where to move from DO, and I had a Linode account inactive for many years.
@duckdotexe "Yes, and ..."
I wonder if the number of "open source" projects has grown exponentially & unsustainably due to slop projects and/or if they're trying to monetize the growing number of projects. It could be the administrative cost is no longer worth the good will it was getting them (lots of growing businesses do "loss leader", ... until they've captured the market).
That it's happening at the same time as the 3 million suggests that's cheaper than what they were doing. 😕
@zimzat @duckdotexe there are some rumors that appear to be from trustworthy sources, which claim that there were deleterious ultimatums involved, and the bottom line was not actually the deciding factor in this.
@drwho @duckdotexe they went up because of the hardware costs, but still okay. The smallest VM is still around $5.

Honestly, I’m frustrated that such a major change wasn’t clearly announced on the wiki. There really should be a News/Announcements page, especially when the rename is breaking so many scripts.

As explained to me by my high school biology teacher the reason men have nipples is because nipples are formed earlier in the development process than gender is.
That still isn't a purpose, but I guess a better example would be something that's useless to everybody. Like wisdom teeth.
Taking Pictures with Physical Camera
I bought a camera as my #postmarketos installed #oneplus6 camera experience isn't quite there. So I was looking for something cheap but solid specs. I landed on the Pentax WG-1. That said, I'll be honest, I was about to sell the camera... but after reviewing some pictures I took during vacation... maybe I'll carry it a bit more. Yes, maybe an #android phone would take better pictures... but I like the aesthetic and the lack of tracking...
