You can get that from the thousands of other accounts posting nature photos, but you're not going to get that here because nature makes me feel itchy.
I just don’t enjoy 99% of nature photos so I'm certainly not going to add to the pile when it's just not my thing (jus as there are thousands of nature lovers who don’t want to look at my photos of dumb stuff like escalators and parking garages).
That being said, there are a handful of nature photographers on here who do an incredible job and even make my nature-averse self pause in awe at the beauty they capture.

The military can send missiles to any point on the globe with an accuracy of centimeters without losing a man. The time for a resistance was decades ago.

But rolling over is not an option. The military isn't going to kill all the workers. The workers are more important than any other group. If the workers strike, the rich suffer.

My solution is to have had everyone vote back in November. That way the bed we’re now having to lie in wouldn’t have been made for us in such a way that would lead to you and I having to have this conversation.

Voter turnout is always highest for presidential elections, and the last two have had the highest in decades. Yet that is still in the low 60's. Any ideas for how to increase turnout?
A fascist dictator who laid out exactly what he was going to do in a bullet pointed manefesto was enough for me. But considering that this wasn’t enough to make people get off their asses and check a fucking box- I really don’t see anyone scrambling to arms.

No- America does not have enough “missles” to kill everyone in America. However the number they can kill would be FAR greater than one percent, as one percent of America is only three point three million people. The population of New York alone is eight point eight million.
So, if the military simply just sent one or two Trident II D5s per city, it would wipe out any potential resistances that could even stand a snowball’s chance in Florida.
Now, that’s just New York.
The U.S. has fourteen Ohio-class submarines. Each capable of carrying a maximum of twenty Trident II D5 missiles, for a total of two hundred and eighty deployed missiles.
So let’s say we sent two per major US city. That’s one hundred and forty major US cities of their choosing- Wiped out. Gone.
The only half-assed winning strategy here would be to amass said resistance in the heart of every red state.

It’s #MosaicMonday and we’re taking a dip in the sea to freshen up with this marine life mosaic from Pompeii. This intricate mosaic is so detailed that it’s possible to identify the different species including the central tussle between an Octopus vulgaris (common octopus) and a Palinurus vulgaris (European spiny lobster).

Hallo Fediverse, kennt sich jemand mit Trimmerfaden für einen Rasentrimmer aus? So ziemlich alles am Markt scheint aus Nylon, also Polyamid zu sein. Das zersetzt sich aber nur sehr sehr langsam und ich bringe damit jede Menge Plastik und Microplastik in den Garten. Das möchte ich nicht so weiter machen. Von Green Line gibt es etwas was sich wohl zersetzt.
Hat jemand Erfahrung?
Bin an Antworten auch interessiert.
der Nachbar hier hat eine Stahl wäscheleine eingezogen. Scheint zu funktionieren, wirft aber Funken wenn er Steine erwischt was bei Trockenheit ein Feuerrisiko sein kann.

Ich frag mich wie man ein solches auto durch eine Europäische Stadt bekommen soll bzw damit ein Parkplatz finden.
Teilweise habe ich Schwierigkeiten mit meinem VW Polo in Innenstadt Parkhäusern hoch zu kommen ohne eine Wand mit zu nehmen 😂 Könnte aber auch einfach nur ein Problem meiner Fahrkünste sein ...

@Xanatos Das dürfte dann zeitnah und „ergebnisoffen“ (lies: Ergebnis steht schon vorher fest, man will Fußgänger*innen und Fahrradfahrende aber nicht direkt vor den Kopf stoßen) 'besprochen' werden und mit entsprechenden Sonderregelungen schnell und unbürokratisch umgesetzt werden. Schließlich geht es um die heilige Kuh, das „ewige Wachstum“ und darum, dass man sich die Fascho-🍊 glaubt, gewogen machen zu können. Wie in anderen Bereichen schon geschehen.
"Sicherheit" gilt nur für die Leute **im** Auto.
Macht kaputt, was euch kaputt macht.
So einfach wird es gehen.
Es ist vielen Autobauern nicht so ganz bewusst, das sogenannte sicher aussehende, SUV , bei einem Zusammenstoß Lebensgefährlich für Erwachsene und absolut tödlich für Kinder sind !

Natürlich ist es denen bewusst.
Gebaut werden diese obsoleten Dreckskarren trotzdem, weil sich damit höhere Gewinnspannen als mit leichten, kleinen, sauberen und praktischen Fahrzeugen erzielen lassen.
Das ist der einzige Grund für diese Blechmonster.
Was mit den Unfallopfern passiert, ist Autobauern völlig wumpe.
Schon immer gewesen. Kosten zahlt die Allgemeinheit.

I was born in a country where gay sex was illegal and I first learned the term 'homosexual' from a criminology textbook when I was 12. We had a lot of books. I think it was during a presidential convention that I saw protesters on tv with signs about gay rights. I asked my dad what that was about and he said “they just want to be happy”. Good enough for an eight year old.
Our niece has a sticker book about weddings. I guess we all have been gender-neutral with her since she was very little so she didnʼt think twice about putting two bride stickers together at the altar on one page when she was 6. I asked if the two women were getting married and she said they were. She just figured it out! (It probably also helps that there is a famous married queer cricketer in the family.)
Yes. When the boy was smol we watched some TV documentary about gay families, and at one point he asked "Why does that child have two daddies?" and we explained and that was it. And still, he turned out heterosexual 😉

Son potentes predadores, como se puede ver en la foto en la que inmoviliza y clava su probóscide en un punto vulnerable del saltamontes, para alimentarse de su víctima. De todos modos, como os podéis imaginar, lo de "asesina" es una cualidad exclusivamente humana.

((Der letzte Anständige war Manfred Rommel, mit Abstrichen auch Lothar Späth) Geißler hat zur Wahrheit auch erst mit Karriereende gefunden) Die sahen auch dass ein Großteil der CDU Politik dumm ist, aber die Netzwerke ermöglichen Karrieren und spätestens nach dem zweiten beruflichen Aufstieg will man auch dass der Dreckspöpel gefälligst 3Jobs hat, 1Job nur um Steuern zu zahlen. Und man selber spart.
Diese "Anständigen" sind bereit jeden Scheiss mitzumachen, hauptsache die Karriere bleibt.

Dabei ist die Union einfach zu sehr von sich selbst überzeugt, dass sie gar nicht merkt, dass - einer nach dem anderen - die #noafd mit ihrer Meute von rechtsextremen Influenceen einen weiteren Sargnagel in die Koalition klopft. So wird sie es nicht überleben. Merz will an der Macht bleiben und wird den rechtsextremen Mehrheitsbeschaffer ins Boot holen.

Oh, and I have been too. It seems that someone doesn't take criticism well.
I believe it's important to stand up for artists and this isn't the only example of Gee's work being copied uncredited.
#newsthump did it a couple of weeks ago and there are hundreds of t-shirts and other merch being sold online.
Being an anarchist, I doubt Gee is interested in challenging this, but she does deserve at least the credit for her work.

Wir versuchen mit ihnen ein Päckchen zu packen. Was sie vielleicht später, wenn sie in konfliktsituationen als Erwachsene sind, noch mal aufmachen können. In der Hoffnung, dass ihr Weg nicht der ist. Den viele unserer Kinder gehen: in den Knast.

Den Job kannst du nicht machen und schaffst es auch nicht, wenn du Kinder, wenn du Menschen nicht liebst.
Du gehst an deine Grenzen. Und das freiwillig und gerne. Und wenn es Not tut, halten wir die Kinder, liegen mit ihnen auf dem Boden und halten sie . Manchmal stundenlang.

Danke, dass Du uns die Realität von dem zeigst, was der Großteil der Menschen nicht sehen will oder einfach keine Vorstellung hat, wie es in Wirklichkeit überhaupt aussieht.
Alleine der Begriff "Jugendhilfe" sollte inzwischen eher "Jugendschutz- und Rettungsdienst" heißen.
"Hilfe" klingt einfach so nach "Ja, ein bisschen Zuspruch und Hausaufgabenhilfe und eventuell mal ein bisschen Unterstützung fürs Selbstbewusstsein" - und rein gar nichts spiegelt an dem Wort "Jugendhilfe" die tatsächliche Dramatik wieder unter der die Kinder und ihr zusammen leben.
Ich wünschte, dass dieser Einblick von Dir hundertfach geteilt wird.

während meines 🤏 vor Ende nicht abgeschlossenen Psychostudiums, welches ich mir mit NWen als Krankenschwester finanzierte, musste ich Studiumsintern auch 2 unbezahlte Praktika machen.
Ich tat das
- in einem Frauenhaus, und
- als niedrigschwelliges Angebot
(im Bus herumfahrend) im Bereich
der Hilfe für minderjährige Prostituierte.
Das war Ende der 80er.

Das System ist schon länger richtig runter gerockt und ausgerechnet dort sieht er Einsparungsbedarf. Wer solche Vorschläge macht, hat sich noch nie inhaltlich mit der Jugendhilfe und Eingliederungshilfe auseinander gesetzt. Er guckt nur auf die Zahlen. Aber für eine satte Diätenerhöhung ist Geld da.
Diese Politik ist menschenverachtend.
Und ein Dank an alle, die versuchen dieses System für die Betroffenen am Leben zu erhalten.

wenn man sich überlegt, dass sich die jetzige Problemlage aufgrund von traumatisierten Menschen ja frühestens in einer Generation, also 25...30 Jahre "rauswachsen" kann durch Maßnahmen, dann finde ich es total unverständlich, warum Stellen und deren Finanzierung nicht verstetigt werden.
Selbst VWLer müssen sehen, dass psychisch stabile, nicht-straffällige und nicht-drogenabhängige Menschen "besser" für einen Staat sind als das Gegenteil.
Nur irgendwann fiele dann das Bild weg, was man Menschen als "die Anderen" und als "du willst doch nicht SO werden" vor die Nase halten kann.
Erbärmlich.

Der NRW-Innenminister bedauert nicht den Mangel an Jugendhilfe, sondern die Verrohung im Netz 🤷♂️

@Westcoastmaven I’ve been around autistic people at different times throughout my life, most recently had worked with two people on the spectrum in the past few years at the newspaper and they both were fully functional adults and really pretty good writers. I also have a friend or two from high school who have had autistic kids and they’ve turned out well. RFK Jr. is a total asshat. Simply hasn’t one clue about much of anything.

I prefer laptops without any OS. They are rare, but they are out there. I used to prefer ones with Windows, but I fell in love with Ubuntu few years ago and now it's the first thing I install on my laptops.
I don't know why people transition relatively easily from Windows to MacOS, but something like Ubuntu is so alien to them even though it's almost the same damn transition as it is to MacOS. Even the dock is there...
glad that they are offering linux pre-installed, especially because for some people its the hardest part and if they can make everything to work, or at least make it easier to use out-of-box for the user, then its really good! And they can save money not choosing windows either!
For me, advanced user, I wish they would offer laptops without OS, so I can do my own installation without forcibly paying for the windows which I dont want or need

In Finland a few models appear to have the option of no OS, but unfortunately no Linux options.
For many countries the OS filter does not work, you need to find the customize option and check each interesting (#Thinkpad) model. I wrote about it at mastodon.social/@timojyrinki/1…

These #certified models have been available for years, and still many pay the windows tax and might get incompatible components, do not know about the availability, so keep on spreading the word!

A summary for #Lenovo #Linux shopping in any country:1. Go to #Thinkpad models directly.
2. Filter just by your preferred screen size. Lenovo does not have functional OS filtering.
3. X1, Z and T series are the highest quality. L is cheaper.
4. Select any that have a "Customize" ("Crea", "Rakenna oma tietokoneesi"...) option.
5. Check the OS options - many have either #Ubuntu or #Fedora (fewer) available -> buy a certified laptop that works out of the box, and some €/$ go to Linux development.
I'm not sure about other countries but #Dell AU/NZ customer support is apparently happy with installing Linux on any laptop before shipping it if you arrange in advance, according to what they told me.

That should definitely be a "451 Unavailable For Legal Reasons" response code rather than "404 Not Found". At the very least, a "410 Gone" status indicates that something was there at one time, but has since been removed.
A shame they removed it.
