Groups - do they actually exist

When I ask people why they're still on Facebook they all mention closed communities inside groups. So - if I am to have any chance of moving people to Friendica we need the same kind of open or closed communities here.

But I can't really see where to create a community like that? Can you even do it?

Edit: What I want from a group is:

* Can be open or closed
* Members don't have to be friends to be in the group
* Group creator/admin can act as moderator, or elevate other people to mods, inside group

It's a little strange that it doesn't seem to exist on Friendica, as it - alongside Messenger in Denmark and Events - is the main reason why people use FB.

I don't see any such groups box on the right on my friendica.world contacts page.

For me, at least, it's a barrier to using Friendica. I will maintain my account here, but it's something I know will scare people away so I will hold back on self-hosting or trying to make people join until it's more intuitive....

Actually, when I try to do this - register an additional account - I get an error saying that the passwords don't match. But I know they match, so...

Edit: A whitespace issue...
