January Watercolor

Every year I create my own calendar. Lets me put birthdays and personally significant events on it without the writing against the wall thing. Most of the time I use photos I've taken over the year. When it's not dark before / after work I usually take photos of the sky. The Puget Sound has some lovely sunrises and sunsets on the regular.

This year, I decided that I'd do watercolors since I've been working on my watercolor skills. This one is the January watercolor. They're all water-focused because painting water is my favorite thing to do.

Super happy how this one turned out. I really love the islands in front and the clouds, too.

Thank you, Petra! Totally agreed. Water is wonderful, unless it's cold and I have to go swim in it. *laughs* But always beautiful to look at and paint.

My friend is one of these crazy women who like to go into freezing lakes in the middle of winter. I do believe that it triggers a great emotional response (it seems your body is just very happy it survived the experience) but so far she couldn't convince me to come along. 😃

I just made this face IRL: 😬

I mean, I get it? I grew up swimming in snow-fed lakes all summer long, but yikes. Nope. I R Old Enough to say Nope to the max on that.

That whole body thinks it just escaped sudden death is because hypothermia comes on QUICK and yeah. *shudder*

Very lovely! I like how well you did detailing the clouds in such a way that is simplistic but makes it appear as clouds with just the coloring alone. If that makes sense. Lol
