What's the process for sharing videos? My label puts out a ton of promotional videos for our upcoming releases and it looks like there is a limitation for sharing video. Which is understandable since it's a decentralized fedi instance.
@Eddie Trax Friendica is a bit bad in the video sharing aspect. You can either share it here or upload it to a different website and paste the direct address for it under the [video][/video] tag (along with the extension of the file if present in the URL bar).
If you want to have your video uploaded here, upload it normally, then go here to attach it to your post:
Select your file, and it will be posted with an tag.
However, there's currently no user facing way to delete these as yet, so feel free to upload them on any other external service and share the direct link to the audio/video if you care about this.
You can use the tags [audio]your-link-to-the-audio[/audio] and [video]your-link-to-the-video[/video] for that.
Edit: or you can upload it to Peertube, which is another ActivityPub platform and set your account to automatically boost the one on Peertube. This way, whatever you post there, will be automatically boosted to your profile.
@Eddie Trax Friendica has been the way for me to reduce my reliance on Meta, but it's not been the only one; I also owe to everyone who migrated to Mastodon back in the day and are still active (or restarted activity), all the publishers who are currently federating on Flipboard, all the Lemmy communities - even to Tumblr, Bluesky and RSS for (still) existing.
Slowly but surely we're going to get rid of all those centralized, data-hungry silos!
We run a lot of instances (mastodon.world, lemmy.world, photofed.world, sharkey.world, bookwyrm.world ... ) with Friendica.World being the latest addition
