OK, might as well ask: Does anyone know of a law firm that could provide counsel for me and finalize a submission of an amicus curiae brief that I have already written for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court?
Update: Out of the half-dozen organizations I've contacted, one might be able to point me towards counsel. Further input still welcome.
Update: whooo filed pro se! It only took 4 browsers on 2 computers to get the electronic filing to work, and I need to get printed copies in the mail for everyone who is not registered to be served automatically, but I am now officially a fool who has themselves for a client.

@itamarst Interesting! I spoke with the clerk about whether the deadline was absolutely rigid, but not about whether I could file in person on my own recognizance (as it were).
I did reach out to the ACLUM but haven't heard back yet. Also the New England First Amendment Coalition (ditto) and the EFF (ditto).
in general I'm just looking for people who create custom physical items (whether that's traditional art, sculptural works, etc) who might be done in time for Christmas -- would like to purchase all my Christmas gifts from indie sources this year. please advertise at me, or let me know if you know anyone else who has commissions open! I have no budget.
notably I am in the US if that makes a difference wrt anything

I'm looking for my next software or data engineering role after a recent layoff from Barnacle Systems. That's startup life; I wish the team every success.
I'm a senior software engineer with ten years of experience doing web dev and data engineering work.
I'm particularly interested in:
* Energy transition, climate mitigation/adaptation, and forecasting
* Infrastructure and tooling that supports domain experts
* Mission-driven organizations in health, education, or climate
Open to full-time, contract, or fractional work.
If you're hiring or know someone who is, let's talk!

@Turq I did think of modding Doom into Doom, so you could have a Computer in Doom that you could play Doom on.
(and obviously you could play Doom on the computer inside Doom you, so you can nest them.)

Hello Masto-peeps who use screen readers!
I just learned that I need to put alt text on URLs for more accessible PDFs, but -- what should it say?
I am formatting academic citations that include a URL, so all the information about where that link will take you is in the text. I don't want it to read the URL to you and I don't want to just repeat the same information you just heard. What do you find most helpful in this situation?
Pls boost for reach!

@WeirdWriter Ooh, maybe I do? Maybe the higher ups who have given me this list don't know enough to know they are using the wrong terms? I certainly don't know if it's the wrong term, myself!
I feel like I know a lot about making a web page accessible, but much less about making PDFs accessible. I think I'm going to have to get on Duck Duck Go and see if I can find a good PDF-focused accessibility resource.
Thank you for letting me know your preference! It's very helpful!

one of the 0603 bulk caps in the 12V rail to the fans blew shorting it all. Had to remove the 7805 and then cap by cap to find that out.
Aaaaaaaand it's wurkin again...

But goddammit, the evidence for widespread vaccination from infectious diseases like measles is MASSIVE. This isn't about trying to find personalized treatment for specific individual conditions; this is population health and is intended to work en masse--and it does! We know it does! It is the most blatantly obvious medical evidence on a large scale and it's been studied again and again. We have seen the difference it makes IN OUR LIFETIMES, and unfortunately in both directions.
I doubt any antivaxxers follow me here anyway, but I need to vent this steam every time the issue pops up.
