Enshittification of Sports
On #Waypoint's Sports podcast, Patrick Klepek and Rob Zacny had a discussion of various sports franchise owners shifting away from distributing their games on cable networks and instead going to their own streaming services with very high monthly subscriptions ($20+/month).
As someone who hadn't been able to see my local Timbers games until Apple got the MLS contract (and T-Mobile gave a year away as a free offer), and hasn't been able to watch local #portlandtrailblazers games for years, I checked to see if the Portland Trail Blazers have done the same thing - not only have they, but they're doing it in partnership with Sinclair Broadcasting, so if you want to watch a Blazers game streaming, you have to fork over money to fascists.
