Golden-breasted Starling

A slim, gorgeous long-tailed starling of dry country. Iridescent green, purple, and blue decorate the upperparts, and the belly is yellow. There is a dark mask and a pale eye. The flight is weak, with the long, thin tail flapping behind. Found in dry woodland, thorn savanna, and thorn scrub, usually in small flocks. Generally shy, but can become tame in some lodges and picnic areas.

Her story formed the basis of Webster's drama, The Tragedy of Paolo Giordano Ursini (1612), and of Ludwig Tieck's novel, Vittoria Accoramboni (1840); it is told more accurately in D. most of the #coffee crowd hasn’t come over from Twitter but the @coffee@a.gup.pe might be a good place to find roasters. I am a home roaster but I only give my coffee away. Given pythosanitary regulations, it’s hard to export even roasted coffee these days.

Wedge-rumped Storm-Petrel

Very small storm-petrel. Fairly common in warmer offshore waters and not usually seen from shore. Plumage black overall with large, wedge-shaped white rump patch and slightly notched tail tip. Often feeds and associates with Least and Black storm-petrels. Similar to slightly larger Leach’s and Townsend’s storm-petrels, but flies with deeper wingbeats, and white rump patch is larger and longer.

Back in 2018, I made this very handy mini egg-flip. And for what it was designed to do (flip eggs, move biscuits off trays, etc) it excelled.
However, youngest child has been using it to fry steaks and pressing down on the steak in the process, so the thin shank glued in to a turned wooden handle was a weak point. The wood broke.

Rather than just make another handle with the same problem, I set about fixing the attachment point.

I took some engineering grade stainless bar, and forged down a small part of it and formed a cone, then welded that to the egg-flip shank. The existing wooden handle fits inside beautifully. I'm now waiting for the epoxy holding it in there to set before it can go back in service.

I just signed up for a free program with Aira that enables blind-owned small businesses to access 150 free minutes a month to assist with business-related tasks. Since @DesireeRenae and I are starting the business together, we get 300 free minutes each month for the business.
