Scientists are training the first generation of rats in Tanzania to detect illegal wildlife trafficked products.

Their research shows that African giant pouched rats can locate concealed wildlife products such as pangolin scales, rhino horns and ivory in shipments.

This innovative approach could reshape antitrafficking efforts and shed new light on the illegal wildlife trade.

A beginner-friendly accessibility check list for my new Gen-Z colleagues? An A4 printable PDF or the like would be great.

I need something to help them get started without the complete and somewhat intimidating WCAG recommendations website.

Chinese Crested Tern

Critically endangered tern, long thought to breed solely on a few islands off the coast of China's Fujian province but recently noted breeding on islets off South Korea as well. Similar to Great Crested Tern (among which it nests) but smaller and paler, with darker outer primaries and dark cap that extends to the base of the orange-tipped bill. Much larger Great Crested has yellowish-green bill and white at bill base. Voice similar to Great Crested but higher in pitch.

The orangutan had come to Javari from the far side of the world & now made his living selling fruit, especially ones like açai & aguaje that grew high up in tall palms. He could climb these more easily than humans could & #exploited his advantage. Occasionally he traveled to his homeland and brought back fruits unknown in Javari--rambutan, lychee, pulasan--to the delight of his clientele. In the shade of a great fig tree, the orangutan sighed contentedly. Life was good.

Question - from a new user

Ello folks! I've recently joined the Friendica universe, and I'm still figuring out how it all works.

I've followed my other Fedi accounts with this one, so that I can boost things on here

But... Not all the posts/toots are visible. When I check the updates of my friends, where my own profiles are in, it shows some of my other posts. When I load the profile time-line of the account, it shows some of the posts.

Any reason why it doesn't show all the latest ones? Is it a setting that I need to change?

Thanks in advance for your help! 🌹

Fellow #Blind #ContentCreators, have any of you found a decent free website platform that is #accessible and usable by someone who isn't a professional web dev? I just want everyone to know that Liza’s fur is like unusually soft and smooth and fuzzy, like even for cat. I don’t know how she does it.

Sometimes I even ask her outright “How do you do it? How do you even be so soft?” but she’s not telling

This is Almond. He might have other names, but he's Almond to me.

On sunny days, Almond is found in his front yard, which I frequently walk past. He's very friendly and loves pats.

Yesterday I had errands to run. As I walked past Almond's house, he loudly proclaimed that he saw me, and I apologised I had to keep moving.

Afterwards I came back, and he came up to me and very loudly complained that my behaviour was unacceptable. He did not let me pat him.

Cats are awesome.

in reply to Paul Fenwick

I was worried because I'd spoken to his new humans a few times, and once they mentioned "they liked Almond so much they were getting their own cat", which made me worry that Almond might no longer get their love.

But this was just anxiety on my behalf. Almond looked so content and well-cared for yesterday.

I'll have to drop them a thank you note.

Y'all, I dropped a note into Almond's letterbox saying thank-you for loving him, and his family wrote back to me!!

Not only is he super-loved, but he's also vaccinated, microchipped, and gets to be an inside cat with another friend who loves him!

I am *so* happy for him! This is such a happy ending for everyone!
