I lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer when I was 19. She was only 47.
My grandmother also died from it at 53.
When Mom was diagnosed, she sat me down and said she knew exactly what I was feeling because she felt the same way when her Mom was dying.
She said she hated knowing that her girls were going to grow up without a mom.
She wasn’t afraid of dying, but she was afraid of leaving us behind.
She was sad that she would miss major milestones like graduations, marriage, grandchildren etc.
She wanted more time.
Unfortunately pancreatic cancer is quick and lethal.
It’s almost always caught too late, and few people live more than a year after diagnosis.
My Mom made it nine months.
I’m forever grateful for the time we had together and the fact that she prepared me for her passing. But I wanted more

It was hope for so many whose lives have been touched by this deadly disease. Who’ve lost loved ones.
Who live with the fear of being diagnosed themselves.
There’s no words for the rage I feel when I think about RFK Jr’s decision to cut funding for this life saving research.
His anti-vaxx grift has already killed and disabled many people. Measles is back. Covid is still here and still killing.
Now he’s basically siding with cancer.
We deserve better than this.
We deserve an HHS leader who actually believes in science.
We deserve leaders who promote life saving interventions, robust public health and cutting edge research.
Shame on him and everyone who supports him.

I always thought it would be a little more difficult but unfort..
The EU has a looot better rules to protect us already comprared to the US 😉 Ofc things can and should improve but we have a base and act more or less on logics
In the US money can buy everything but the EU has still some standards

BTW, lots of the same impulses apply in Europe. In fact, arguably,Brexit started it. We get Wilders coming to some power in the Netherlands. Orban. Le Pen had a chance at power in France. Is anywhere safe? And the issue roiling it all tends to be the same one--migration.

But you see it when you look at the divorce rate, obesity, suicide rate, lawyers per capita, and life expectancy.
A lot of people in the US are cheering Trump because his economic policy has put a lot of people back to work, and you can't really deny lived experience... But I don't think Trump is actually going to change the direction the US is heading in, so maybe just a breath of air while drowning...

Go look at the results by class here. A lot of European style cheeses tend to be won by the Europeans but not always. Sometimes it's a bit surprising. We won the Brie over the French last time. Denmark won the Feta with USA at 2nd place, Switzerland destroyed everyone in the Gruyere, etc
Wisconsin won the Parmesan over the Italians. Crazy.

But yeah, our political climate is challenging, a populist president is testing the resilience of our strong democratic institutions (he couldn't do much harm as he wanted, but he will try), and we're having elections soon, the geopolitical outlook is uncertain so liie many other countries we're living in uncertain times.

That kind of worked.
Until the knuckleheads in one party ignored all of them.
And weren't stopped legally by the other party, as they should have been.
We even had a few good years of "build back better" which is now being destroyed.
This hate of "immigrants" movement is worldwide, unfortunately.
The majority are not for this, but have little economic or political power right now.
Which is why we're sabotaging what we can.

I would love a piece of Humboldt Fog or Point Reyes Blue, but for 50 or 70 euros per kg they're simply not competitive with good European cheese. And Cowgirl Creamery prices seem to have skyrocketed.

The Heritage Foundation's six major dynastries want to dismantle the EU & keep captive oil markets.
1. To protect itself, the EU should accelerate its transition to solar, wind, etc. Continued fossil fuel usage is a national security vulnerability.
2. Consider sanctions on these six: Bradley, Koch, Coors, Scaife Mellon, Seid, Uihlein
