Attackfish on Tumblr posts: As it is Passover again, it is time for the annual debate as to whether the frog plague, which thanks to a quirk in the Hebrew, is written as a plague of frog, singular, rather than the plural, plague of frogs, was in fact, as generally imagined, a plague of many frogs, or instead a singular giant Kaiju frog. This is an ancient and venerable argument that actually goes back to the Talmud because this is what the Jewish people are. If we can’t argue for fun about this sort of thing, what are we even doing. In that spirit, I would like to submit a third possibility, which is that in fact it was one perfectly normal sized frog, who was absolutely acing Untitled Frog Game: Ancient Egypt Edition. One particularly obnoxious frog, who through sheer hard work, managed to plague all of Egypt. Finally trying to get around to some held projects, since the hold-reasons are.....well, currently on hold ;) Anyway, one recc I was quite interested in was Proton Calendar, however it turns out that one of my high-use features (cal sharing) is _not_ part of their free option, and given that I currently am jobless (among other things), adding bills & subscriptions is not really an option at this time. Thoughts for similar (non-Google, pref non-US) free options?
(yes, I realize there might not be any that are reliable/wise/etc....but can't hurt to ask right?)

Ugh, wow - that would be helpful eh? 😁 main functions I currently use include multiple calendars/subcalendars, and calendar-sharing (in addition to individual event sharing). I also like having the option of web-access as well as app-access (mostly android), though I know some folk get cringe-y about that sort of thing. And thank you 😀

I _think_ on Friendica & Mastodon optional account settings to prompt you to add alt-text to your images depend in the server? So you may not be able to force-remind yourself that way, but you should still use #AltText 😀

If you don't add alt-text that's useful and accurate enough, Mastodon users won't care which server of what software you're on and what the rules are where you are. (They won't know what software you use anyway.) They will at the very least lecture you about the importance of alt-text, if not out-right attack you as ableist and/or sanction you.

It is due to this and due to the corresponding behaviour of Mastodon users that the Friendica community is slowly discovering that alt-text matters and learning what it is. It had been completely unknown and especially not part of Friendica's culture for almost a decade and a half.

Given how their struggles have been increasing, especially the last few months, I should have expected it, but between the world and my own life I had enough other focuses that I rather hoped it'd be a bit longer. Unfortunately I was wrong, and last week failed to make it through Company Downsizing Round #5 😞 Laid off after 18 years, 1 month, 10 days....pretty sure résumé formats have changed just a skosh 😆
So that’s A Thing (and if you know of any opportunities for someone with a good chunk of experience in Supply Chain Admin, feel free to drop a note?)

(yes, at least at the moment doing more okay than expected given Everything. And am get a small severance so fiscally can manage for a bit. And have fantastic family & friends whom I adore).
