I ditched Goodreads four years ago and never once looked back.

I really like StoryGraph - it's simple, clean and refreshingly clutter-free.

And behind it all? The brilliant Nadia Odunayo.

I started using it last year and it was only when I got my 2024 wrap up that I fully appreciated the glory of the "graphs" part of the name. I'm definitely continuing with it this year.

I've still got my Goodreads Author account and Librarian status, so I can make sure the details for my own books are correct on there. But I don't use it for tracking any more.

Great question!

I love having detailed stats, and StoryGraph does an amazing job with that. It’s also super easy to use and has a clean, clutter-free interface without ads.

If you prefer decentralization and federated with Mastodon-like interactions bookwyrm is a great choice.

But for me, it feels a bit too basic.

I've stopped buying new/used books via Amazon. A cousin recommended to me Han Kang's We Do Not Part. So I went to the local indie bookstore, figuring I'd have to special order it. But they had it in stock, so, yay. I've been thinking that if I want a title that's used, I would try Powell's (in Portand, OR). Are there other decent, e-commerce book sellers you can recommend?

Many have asked the same question.

StoryGraph is not federated, as clearly stated in the article.

In this post (link & photo 👇 ) I explain why I prefer StoryGraph over Bookwyrm.

Ultimately, the choice is yours!

Unfortunately, The StoryGraph is (as far as I know) not part of the Fediverse. 😶

Personally, I log my reads
• in a private one-person Telegram group
• via The StoryGraph
• via BookWyrm (which federates)

I wanted some place to log my reads, that could give me recommendations based on previous reads, and I (still) don't have an Amazon account, so I found StoryGraph.

Then I heard about BookWyrm, and got an account there.

And then I dived inte the federated world of Friendica and mastodon (I've been on diaspora* since 2014), and now I log more instead of less, but ... 🤷😬😅
