It's quite frustrating to have watched the global fascist campaign unfold in slow motion since I was young, and now people are still only able to see secondary causes.

If you look at the world, there aren't many nations where trans people are welcome. In fact, even in nations where trans existence isn't suppressed, trans individuals aren't necessarily safe. Women, in particular, could often be treated with contempt or worst…

The USA is just another country to add to the long list of bigoted lands.

I feel lucky to have settled in an educated and welcoming region. I wouldn't want to be in any places where specific demographics, aside from bigots and fascists, are not welcome anyway.

Agreed that international #science conferences (and others, too) should *not* be held in ‘red states’ in the #USA.

But I think holding them in ‘blue states’, such as #California , #Illinois and #NewYork , is safe and supports the #resistance to #fascism in #USpol - as long as conference attendants are warned ⚠️ to avoid international flights that land in red states, such as #Georgia , #Texas or #Florida.

@waitworry @TobiWanKenobi Germany currently suffers from a home-made "Fachkräftemangel" (skilled worker shortage). This contains basically every profession, including handicraft or IT.

Of course it gets severely underpaid (who would've known people don't want to work when getting paid on welfare-level), however it still could get people to safety. Given you'd also receive healthcare coverage through this as well as worker protection on EU level it would also be an improvement for many.

@waitworry @blackcoffeerider @TobiWanKenobi I won't say it isn't bad, it really is - but given the whole world is currently becoming right-wing I'd say Germany is still lucky with where it is both globally and inside the EU. And other than the US you're not being systemically persecuted or at risk of being shot in the street. And there's a real possibility of getting here given the job thingy.

That said, western Germany is extremely favourable. Western cities in particular.
