Can anyone in Mastodon (or other parts of FEDIVERSE) see if you can access the event I created in the post above?

Im aiming to see if its possible to see this event as a non-friendica user.
My guess is not, but I thought I'll give it a try!

#friendica
#events
#possibleFBreplacement
#fediverse

ping @johnchantler @lisaullen and others

Ah, so you see some of the info but cannot access the event.

And the link just takes you to the #friendica login at the instance Friendica.world I guess?

(Writing from Friendica)

@Johan_E_M @lisaullen @Johan_Moir it takes me to the post of the event (not event itself) on friendica where i can also see the thread comments from mastodon

I actually realised that it was just posted like that (info, not an event-link).

This is how it looks from my side.

Sorry for confusion, I changed dates of the event because didnt want it to "expire".

The 3 symbols to the down right in my previous pic I guess is "attending, not attending and maybe", because they are normally not there.

It seems like it doesn't create an event the way we are used to see them and rather makes them into a post. But then the host (and hopefully others attenting) will get them in their personal calendar if they "accept".

@Johan_E_M @lisaullen @Johan_Moir fwiw, we are early stages of exploring this functionality for venue...

Sorry, being out of loop I totally forgot that project that you and @scott are running and that you are both developers.

I just made a "hobby-amateur" test out of interest😅

Nah, I just made a very simple test, trying out the Event calendar in Friendica and how that would look if it was tried to be accessed from here (if anything would show up at all) so I tagged John and Lisa to ask them what they saw.

(With "hobby-amateur" I mean "no skills, just curious😉)

@John Chantler

And this is how it looks for different options while creating. Very "basic".

The last one with my profile on it is the "finished" layout before sharing it and also how it looks when opening from the calendar.

So, back to my point: I guess its *kind of* possible to share events to mastodon but the receiving end cant answer digitally to the host if they're planning on attending in the actual event and in that case needs to put a manual note in cal or bookmark the original post.

that's a brutally ugly interface 😉 — cool you are seeing what works! My sense is that a big part of how fb events worked, was the shared-to-timeline rsvp actions and ability to send invites that helped to make event engagement visible amongst the ordinary flow of the timeline...

Agreed.
This calender is like a lousy 90s edition😅

But then Im on a mobile web-interface as well, but haven't found an android app running Friendica that has the "create event" function enabled. "Racoon" (android) was the best I found, but there you could only access cal, not making events. And that app lacks heaps of the other nice Friendica functions! Maybe you know someone who could build a decent app?🙃 (Or a better federated platform?😅)

Have you looked at Mobilizon?
@lemmus only a cursory look so far. Need to investigate further.
