when you put out #water for our #insect friends on hot dry days, make sure to put a stone inside the water, so anypwny falling in has the chance to swim to the stone and to get out by climbing its rough (low biofilm) over water surface. If you put the stone to the edge of the water container you can connect it to one of those holding the container in place forming a bridge for those, who can not fly, but still smell the fresh water. @Jo would reduce the contrast for far visual. If there is shadow on the water, the flying ones don't land. Could be a pedetor hidden it it. Have to move the bowl away from the plant behind it all the time.
My cat prefers to drink water from a bowl with a pebble in it. I guess, it makes water more tasty. Since I noticed that at the outside bowl, now all water bowls get a stone.
