Right now you're fucking watching a bunch of rich nazis argue that they're fighting for free speech, and women's rights, and equality while they install a fascist dictatorship built on white supremacist principles, conduct pogroms against trans people, and steal anything that isn't tied down.

Trump has been working for dividing people all the time. I really don't think more dividing, more fighting is the way to go. Although it may look as being against Trumpism, in a quirky way it is actually supporting that way of thinking.
We can still boycott. We can still show our opinion and fight back. We can still work together against Trumpism. But the main driver should not be more hate and division. We should reach out to the sensible people that underestimated Trump but slowly are waking up the realization that he really IS trying to be King and end democracy. But if these people are alienated they will not come over, we will force them to be enemies.

I feel conflicted about this. I have spent a lot of time and effort in the #fediverse since I left Xitter over a year ago. There are things I *love* about it. I love the open source foundation, the fact that it is distributed, and that it is not dependent on big corps.
But it's hard being Black here, and 99% the people in my most important communities are just not here.
I had a small instance, which I will be turning off in a month. It wasn't worth the cost or effort.

Ok seen it. It is due to encrypted shared preferences (used to store on device your auth token). It fails to open after you restore the app, probably due to failure to decrypt them because the key changes when you reinstall it. I'll investigate more to see if there are workarounds.

In a fit of rage the other day over WaPo owner Jeff Bezos's decision to massively curtail its opinion section, I finally cancelled my subscription, reasoning that I am more wily than most in figuring out how to read paywalled stories.
The day I cancelled, WaPo was saying okay, come back and we'll only charge you half of what you paid earlier. Today that price is reduced by 20 percent.
I'm not moved by this at all. I will continue to promote great reporting by WaPo journalists, here and elsewhere.

I held desperate hopes that Zelenskyy would refuse to give Putin what he wanted.
I couldn't imagine that he would, but I also knew the pressures he was going to face today.
And he stood up to them. He gave them nothing. In the face of their puerile, incandescent, narcissistic rage, he gave them nothing.
My respect for that man grew to extravagant proportions today.
