The way Friendica works, if my friends interact with others, it also shows me some of those interactions on the time line.
Sometimes it's overwhelming, when there are many busy conversations, especially when more friends are participating in the thread.
Sometimes, it's just what I need...
I see someone liked a cute pet video.
I see someone shared a "Three Good Things" Toot that was really lovely.
Insew a beautiful snap that someone boosted...
And, I'll scroll by and give a like.
When I don't know the OP, it's harder for me to do more than liking it.
But it's my way to say "hey, I saw this and I enjoyed it".
I know I could boost it for others to enjoy as well...
But I'm still adapting to the boosting things. Even after 28 months on the Fedi, I still am a bit scared to boost things.. And... I don't know why!
I even feel weird when I boost my own stuff on this account...
I guess I'm still so used to the way algorithms worked (in the past, at least), that when a post got more likes, more people would be able to see it...
I've worked out how to make some circles, and when I am low on spoons, I just go for the closest Friendos. π And when I need some scrolling, when I have more spoons, I'll hit the "everybody" tab and I'll enjoy what others have been enjoying.

in reply to cy β’ β’It depends though, as on my Friendica time line I do get to see the occasional posts that aren't from my friends, but that my friends have interacted with (and not just boosted).
A like for the OP has a lower threshold for me than boosting someone that I don't really know. I'm AuDHD and I struggle with social interactions. Heck, it's even hard to boost a friend or some of my own toots from other accounts.
I try to boost more, and I'm "learning", but it's just that awkward feeling within me that makes it harder to do so. π

in reply to π Cynni π β’ β’ β’No pressure. I'm not a mod of friendica.world or anything! Just trying to help figure out how this works. If your friend replies to something, your instance can request the parent post and so on up. So you could also share stuff with your friends by replying to it. I don't know of any way you could see posts that people you follow are seeing, unless they boosted them, or replied to them.
Or @mentioned them. The @ stuff specifies an additional person to send the post to.
