All the rest are broken but in fixable ways. But I never get round to actually fixing them because I already have a working laptop, two smartphones and a newish tablet with keyboard and mouse.
The tablet was for traveling abroad, but I haven't been abroad so it's nearly unused.

The Canadian government needs its own Instance on the Fediverse. I genuinely despise the current trend of giving people 20+ pages of legal documents behind an "I agree" button on first login. It’s a deliberate choice, they know people won’t read all of those pages before hitting accept. Even still, assuming you could read all of those pages you better be good at legalese which is its own beast. If you took the age old suggestion of "have a lawyer review everything you sign" it’d take days for you to be able to purchase a product off of Amazon. They’re betting on you needing something right that moment so you accept their terms without thinking and then fuck you over.

The lawyer briefly talks about how this is such a common practice and how even he knows it's unrealistic to expect everyone to read all of the EULA. Like, I remember distinctly one of the things that stood out to me was the fact you had to ship the computer in the original packaging in order to return it, how vague that was and how that could lead to them invalidating your return because you didn't ship it in the original packaging. Something you wouldn't know about unless you spent hours reading through it all.

DEI was most often used by Republicans to disparage people of color. They are branching out now, but if you look at earlier usage in their propaganda i think you'd see my point. They called a black Mayor the "DEI" mayor. i think they started using it inclusively more after the planes

For the search function, it's the go to anything function, it has the same principle as the search function as said in the video but I used it out of habit. For the second part of your question, I don't know which media you're talking about. If it's the image with the Joplin preview, it's simply a media that I had added in advance in the note to show the OCR function.
I have been using Joplin for over 5 years and I didn't know that there is another search function with "Go > Goto Anything...". That explains it. Thank you! When using the filter input field, the results of the media files are displayed at the top of the note. There can be a lot of results so that the visibility of the note is restricted as this "banner" keeps being on the top when scrolling. Not a big deal, but sometimes annoying.

I mean on one hand it’s great because it’s going to require depression screenings periodically in new parents or people who have had a pregnancy loss, but “medical terminations” is also on the list where people would get regular mental health screenings for a year or two after, and since it has been introduced by Republicans I find it to be a little terrifying.
First of all how are they going to know who had medical terminations to know who is entitled to have their insurance company cover these screenings? Who’s to say you won’t get diagnosed with depression because you don’t want to have sex with your husband the moment the clock strikes six weeks after birth or whenever the doctor says it’s safe to have sex again? Will new Moms be diagnosed with mental illness if they aren’t keeping up with the housework and making dinner every night for their husband?
I’m Childfree by choice and I support women’s right to choose the life they want to live and this bill sounds OK but it’s kind of terrifying to me because I know the Republicans aren’t trying to do something nice for women. It’s a trap.
@maggiejk @vampirdaddy rational concerns. Our medical system has a history of abuse, and is still very very imperfect. There are still wild disparities in outcomes for different kinds of people, and women / pregnant people get far too little attention during drug trials in general

actually I think this just means they’re coming for your kids. I don’t think they’ll be taking adults to these camps, they’re just coming for the kids.

Honestly, I thought I was going to go to a political reeducation camp before going to a wellness camp - not that there will be a lick of difference between the two.
Of most important note here, imo, is that phones would be taken away. Removing any ability to report unsafe and inhumane conditions would be a vital aspect of such "camps."
@AnneTheWriter1 I was more worried about the fact that this only mentions children. They’re not sending adults to the camp, they’ll send us to a different camp where we do work. They’re not worrying about reeducating us, that’s just for the children.
This is me. They want to put me in a concentration camp because I am treated for bipolar. Some of my friends have been seeing me as "chicken little" crying that the sky is falling under this regime. As long as it doesn't affect them, I guess.
@benroyce This subject came up tonight while we were out to dinner with friends. The idea horrified all of us. I think it’s important to keep in mind that this article was from this summer, when RFK was still a fringe candidate. It’s certainly worth paying attention to, though, being ready to push back if/when this starts gaining traction.

But you make a good point, I know a bunch of parents that don’t want to tell their children NO and they don’t parent them. These kids run the show from the age of two until they leave the home in their 20s.
So I could see how parents who don’t want to tell their kids what to do might really like this. I’m just glad I never had kids, there’s no way I would let the government take my child to some molestation camp.
And if you think that that’s not what’s going to happen there you should really look up New Hampshire YDC settlements and see how kids were treated in the kid jail here.
@clarablackink just to give you a clue, New Hampshire decided that the official clergy for the kids in the kids jail should be the New Hampshire priest that was prosecuted for being part of the catholic pedo ring. I think he was the only one that was convicted in the state as part of that whole thing. At the time that he was given the job at YDC that had not come out yet obviously, I’m just saying that the people they chose to be in charge of those kids were pedophiles and they should’ve known. I believe they did know and the cruelty was the point.

@maggiejk @Kierkegaanks sorry for your loss. Haldol, despite being a frontline option for psychotic episodes, often causes spasms & seizures in patients. Many medical staff will simply add Benadryl, rather than taking away the insulting medication. General medical staff often lack specialized knowledge needed to treat disease and refuse to recognize it, compounding the issue. I know someone who got seizures & kidney damage from the medication, & they resisted switching off it
