That's what it looks like, with the pedestrian overpass; resolution's too low to make out street signs. I know that they've had Active Clubs there for a while, doing banner drops and shit; IIRC YEG just has a PB chapter and random chuds. Could also be any of the smaller cities too: Red Deer has a pretty big chud community, from what I've heard.

My brain is still struggling to unlearn the years of algorithmic social media. I had become fearful of “liking” anything or following anyone, because it would skew my timeline.

Goodness, Mastodon (and the Fediverse in general) is refreshing 😌

There's still a lot of people that migrated to the fediverse that have not unlearned their algorithmic conditioning.
Everytime I see a "my feed is dead" or "where is everyone" posts I look at how many people they follow. It's usually not a lot or more followers than follows. Following and boosting is what makes your feeds come alive. Also create lists so you can keep up.

Lots of people asking questions about the fediverse over at /r/fediverse

But there's not many current users over there to answer them. If you still have a reddit account and are willing to help some folks out, please consider doing so!

I had 3 alts all get banned at once with my main, I commented on the front page with an alt that was supposdely banned. They were all logged into the app tho thats easy enough to notice (it bothers me that they claim I was evading a ban? like id be smart enough to at least use a vpn and not login all my alts into the same app on the same phone if it was for evading a subreddit ban...)

Another neat tip for you Friendica folks out there.

Did you know you can add tags to posts you see in your Network Feed?

You can help your community look for topics of interest by essentially proposing tags you think fit a post.

So if you look at this example from Associated Press, you can click the “…” for further options.

You’ll see “Add tag”

Enter any tag you think is appropriate, and a comment will appear underneath the post to indicate you added the tag.

Now anyone who is interested in that topic can see the tagged post.

Same as it ever was. The religious right is about power, power for white men. Nothing more, nothing less. They are unmasking themselves more and more rapidly now as they get closer to their dreams. I hope we never forget how these people treated us (LGBTQ+) through the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. One cannot claim to be “Republican” without siding with a long history of hate and abuse.

Hello, (Friendica) World!

I won't be so bold as to assume you've seen me elsewhere, but I'm from Mastodon, just trying out Friendica for the first time. I plan on staying here, so I am excited to meet new people.

I am a web developer, designer, and educator from the Philippines. I also created @Antares Programming to talk about web development to my fellow #Filipino developers in #Tagalog.

I write about my life, career, and (sometimes) technology at my blog francisrub.io/. This site supports RSS feeds. I also recently started a YouTube channel in Tagalog for Antares Programming.

I am a #LadyGaga superfan and a heavy #GenshinImpact lore enthusiast who also recently got into #MarvelRivals. I am also very into #fashion, and have created multiple threads in the past years to comment on the Met Gala runway entries.

I think you would be wise to include a rule along the lines of “while it is permissible to repost content from other platforms such as TikTok (ideally with proper attribution to the source), accounts that exist for the primary purpose of reposting non-original content from other platforms may be limited or removed”

I block accounts that do high-volume, low-effort reposts, but they also waste your money and server resources!

Loops is our short video sharing platform, we're running the first server at loops.video

While it's not open source or federated yet, we are working on that.

If you are on Loops.video, you will be able to migrate your full account to another Loops server without losing your followers, videos, comments or likes!

It's pretty amazing what is possible with open platforms and protocols ✨

If you go to your contacts tab, you'll see options for the local server here, and globally.

If your friend is here on friendica.world you can just look up their name. Otherwise you'll search for @[namehere]@[server.com]

If your friend needs to set up an account, you can send an invite as well with their email.

Friendica's quite a comfortable platform. I get the feeling I could get used to this pretty quickly - and it's compatible with a lot of existing apps for Mastodon and others.

I'm coming from the whole micro-blogging experience, and over the years I've fallen into this habit of using hashtags and numbered posts to chain long threads together to track certain topics. I felt Mastodon and others did this incredibly well compared to even Twitter so I fit right in.

How would I keep posts together along certain issues or topics here?

I'll point out that I see people chaining their posts together on Mastodon from my Friendica account. But those chained posts are indented further and further, much like an email. I suspect if I did the same with long standing chains of posts, the indents would eventually lose meaning.

Hello All!

I'm mainly enjoying my time on calckey.world, but I've been exploring a few Fediverse offerings - inspired by @Elena Rossini on Sharkey

I just wanted to share a quick observation here.

First, for whatever reason, Friendica does not handle the "Latest Activity" Channel very well. When I try to use that "filter", the page doesn't load or takes a very long time. Even if the page loads properly, the feed does not refresh as per settings.

For now, I've simply removed that Channel to avoid the issue. I'm fairly new and couldn't figure out the difference between latest post vs latest activity anyway.

Second, another issue is when I try to load the "Groups" Circle, the page does load slowly. I only have 5 lemmy groups there to test things out. I'm guessing something isn't playing well there.

@Friendica Support

in reply to rushSteady

@rushSteady From my experience, "Latest activity" shows the posts with the biggest amount of activity (i.e. likes, comments etc.) - this means that if an older post gets more likes, comments etc. than a newer one, that one is boosted to the top. If you use Reddit, it's similar to how the "Hot" page works. I generally go to "Latest posts" to have my feed display in chronological order, strictly according to post age.
