More Blender Tests

I've been playing around with what I can achieve with #Blender. I'm truly amazed at what my 10yo laptop can handle.

This is made from a ready-made assets, including the mother and child, the grass, and the textures. The landscapes, and trees I made myself. I think the trees still need work, but it's a better start than I hoped.

Of course, this image is still a work-in-progress.

Blood Moon in Dangerous Waters

I've been playing around with this during my free time. Getting the lighting right has proven quite a challenge. Those that follow me on Mastodon might know I made an earlier version with just the blood moon. For this, I almost completely remade it. The only thing I kept was the moon. I even used a higher resolution star map.

It looks much better against a darker background. Lighter backgrounds drown out the stars, ripples in the ocean, and even the iceberg.

A calm ocean on a clear night. A gibbous blood moon to the right. An iceberg lurking to the left. Stars in the background.

A Test Render

I'm nowhere near finished with this, but I thought I'd share this test render I made of a terraformed Mars that I made in #Blender. I'm planning to redo the cover for one of my books.

So, I'm cycling along in the middle of nowhere....

...and I see something golden on the nature strip between the highway, on the left, and the mass of construction, on the right. As I near it, I realise that it's a statue of a golden Buddha. My question is why? Does it have something to do with the lunar new year? Or has there been a traffic incident and someone is paying their respects?

Curious
