Too far beyond tomorrow I have flown
on excess sorrow of the rolling stone,
so I build bridges between lonely hearts
while selling illusions from apple carts
because the living room light flickers faint
at sudden appearance of the sad saint.

Grief carves accelerated counterpoints
in timeless passion on my boneless joints
till I leap in deep lake of honest pain
to drink electric wisdom of dawn rain
so I can represent facts about life
with inventive process of psychic strife.

My heart cannot afford to lose its faith
in randomness of events twined by the wraith
who teaches me to summon wingless birds
based on arrogant loneliness of words
that bind my body to this shaking globe
which I feel spinning though I wear my robe.

Dire exaltation shouted in springtime
traps me in public pageant of bold crime
because I dream the world will end in flame
consistent with random rules of the game
we play forever in each life reborn
till I wander away with heart forlorn.

Though treachery of nostalgia lures my heart
to long for sacred past that falls apart,
I pause to hear the heartless siren wail
as she laments the project I would fail,
so I imagine every way to die
while gliding with demon breath in the sky.

In charge of my own secret consciousness,
I try to build Bridge of Forgetfulness,
but ghosts of laughter dance on my lost grave,
so I hide while singing in the grandiose cave
about how people weep in castle towers
where I must practice divination powers.

Escaping to the place where I was born,
I walk beyond horizon of gold corn,
to chat with frog of gold hypnotic eyes
who weaves my network of psychotic spies
when the bitter king tears down the White House
in vain attempt to confiscate my spouse.

Sly proverb that declares with sanity
how we must learn from dire calamity
to live the present through enlightenment,
till pride chains our souls with entitlement,
surprises me with falseness of its tone
analyzed by sneer of the mountain crone.

If dry stones in the waste land sing to me
with voice of angels in the wordless heat,
I shelter hollow heart of liberty
among the heap of broken images
where branches twist from roots of silent grief
in angry trees that never blossom fruit.

Strange shadow of my soul under red rock
considers something different from our truth
based on stark fear in the handful of dust
that swirls in fresh wind of the verdant isle
where hyacinths bloom from grave of the girl
whose wet hair shimmers in my morning dream.

Though I could not speak of my aching love,
nor could my eyes see visage of her soul,
I gaze into the silent heart of light
to hear weird song of ocean waves call me
with eerie voice of wordless ecstasy
while I float mute in nothingness of time.

No clairvoyant with pack of tarot cards,
posing as graceful Lady of the Rocks,
attempts to read the fortune of my stars
then prophesy my hanging from the tree
when Fame discovers my safe hiding place
and drags to the public square of faith.

My secret horoscope in Book of Jokes,
programmed in riddling code of urgency,
lures me to walk Bridge of Forgetfulness
where faceless people, long undone by death,
still follow guiding star of rainbow wealth
that leads them to the wrecked ship on the shore.

Now no one sits on burnished throne of sight
that shimmers on high ziggurat of power
before fraught table of the sacrifice
where the Holy Grail topples on its side
and spills blood of salvation from the book
at stalemate end of our chess game with Death.

Paused on the busy street in cool twilight
before the bookstore glowing gold with hope,
I wonder why in sixty years of life
I have never heard the nightingale sing,
so I place diamond ring of solitude
on fractured marble mantel of my heart.

When long-departed nymphs of faith return
with Holy Book of Fairy Tales form Hell,
I sit beneath the apple tree of time
to meditate on the meaning of life
as I become Buddha Tiresias

Wide-angle view inside my empty heart
reveals ten billion faceless ghosts of fate
who ask if I remember shocking hour
ten million years ago on river shore
when we first faced the giant demon toad
with gold flashing eyes and razor-sharp teeth.

After Theseus defeats the Minotaur
in glorious battle against monstrous hate,
he works as mechanic at the car shop,
fixing piston engines with crafty hands
so we can drive our time machines to work,
then back home to eat dinner with the kids.

Regaling companions at fine restaurants,
while eating beef steak and drinking tart wine,
the Great Movie Director with grand words
relates sordid tales of his past triumphs
creating the best movies of all time
about corruption of powerful men.

Because laughter gives birth to foul discourse
by insulting men of authority
to prove they are just as mortal as us,
I prance with wild exaggerated jest
to mock the thief who thinks he is our king
so I laugh when I fall on my own face.

While the humble shepherd with curving harp
sings reverent psalms of worshipful respect
for power of Nature to create souls,
kings wield their holy books as sharpened swords
to kill rebels who laugh at their false pride
till the Jester kills the Tyrant with one stone.

We climb misty peaks of intelligence
to peer in gloomy furnaces of fate
where laws of metaphysics control change,
so we can break through walls of worldly pride
and dance with eager diabolic joy
on graves of gods who writhe in agony.

Observing imperfections of the mind,
I scorn aggressive tyranny of doubt
to weep with laughter from calamity
that shakes foundation of our world empire
through shock of willful liberty to sing
about our suffering in the prison camp.

Constrained by maxim of the wise buffoon
that laughter raises saviors from the dead,
I purchase at expense of brave virtue
soul-healing relief of scandalous spells

When time portal of green flames opens wide,
he leaps through blank wall on angelic wings
and finds himself in lush Missouri woods
driving wagon pulled by the swift white horse
loaded with rifles for the Promised Land
to the white church perched high on oak tree hill.

With silver revolver in leather holster,
he plays folk songs on polished wood guitar
where people dance on lawn before the barn
after feasting on chicken and potatoes
while black locomotive puffing white steam
clacks rapidly through fields of golden wheat.

When Raphael descends from swirling clouds,
he fires arrow of faith at heart of Venus
who writhes with anguish of the Weeping Mother
pushed from the black Mustang by snarling Mars
who burns rubber tires when he peels away
while Cochise cradles her in his arms.

When rain storm flushes broad river with tears
that flood the city streets with roiling waves,
Cochise presents raven feather high
in boat which Orion rows in pouring rain
to rescue thousands of people with care
though Thor fires bullets of rage at them all.

Robotic spotted owl with emerald eyes
spreads wide assertive wings of gratitude
to fill his heart with spirit of insight,
so he grasps crown of world authority

while satyrs string phone lines into his brain.

While Orion in cowboy hat and boots
herds cows along Ohio River shore,

across the prairie where antelope roam
to leave computers under Christmas trees
for all the little children of the world.

to trick my eyes with glamorous reward
at subtle harmony of the star chord
which vibrates far across the universe

Despite how time attempts to thwart my plans
to gather and unite wild highland clans,
I carry treasure that embodies truth
defined by state of intellectual swath

in billowed blooms of desire-tangled rope,

our bodies still bristle with chemicals
which buzz our brains with frantic strategies,
so we will build new world view that includes
methods to control chaos of emotions.

Turmoil of social energy expands
from wildly spinning core of hungry greed,
so we cling to wood horses of blind faith,
trapped on merry-go-round of psychic games
contrived by thieves to hypnotize our minds
in thinking their coup is legitimate.

Oppressive tactics of their grasping hands
almost confound our fierce attentive play
when they attempt to misdirect our thoughts
from crimes they commit against decency
in frenzied project to control our minds
till we rebel through agitated faith.

Each day I rise from restless dreams of hope
and walk down sunless road of fevered calm
to transform matter of the pulsing world
with urgent hands of crafty attitude,
firmly focused on reconstructing truth
from shattered fragments of our lost world view.

Base principle that defines the real world
on which I erect new temple of truth
consists of fact we long have analyzed
that every object is structure of atoms
which spiral from first flash of the big bang
to activate consciousness of our brains.

Assertive actions of our crafting hands
create or destroy structure of each thing
by constructing new forms from elements
or destructing forms back to elements
in the constant cycle of birth and death
that elicit effect from forceful cause.

We base morality for how we act
on construction or destruction of forms
which result from cause of acts we perform
when we investigate nature of things
to analyze process of corporal change
so we do what we will, if we harm none.

Together sharing stories of our lives
we build new world mythology of truth
depicting characters of forceful will

their hearts sing special beauty of their joy

Unique in infinite variety,
the special nature of each human soul
expands from standard template of one mind
as we multiply through diversity
into billions of complicated types
from one First Mother who designed us all.

Our eight billion brains pulsing with Her soul
are woven together in web of minds
to form one matrix of immortal genes
composing global tapestry of fate
which well depicts in vast array of styles
how each person fits in puzzle of truth.

Though themes for visions of private world views
seem limited by state ontologies,
comprised of religious doctrines revealed
by tribal prophets in the wilderness,
the ways each individual can express
those themes blooms with infinite forms of hope.

Blind Homer stands in tholos of Apollo
and sings of heroes who meet tragic fates,
while he strums turtle lyre of Mercury,
in epic tale that shows how human will
of fierce ambition to control the world
succumbs to mindless nothingness of death.

Eager to transcend stifling maze of myths,
I ask Daedalus how to construct wings
from quills world poets use to compose songs,
but he laments the tragic fall of Icarus,
so I invent swift airplane of desire
with aluminum forged from dragon bones.

Though it seems better to be chained by hope
to the rock of salvation Jesus blessed,
Prometheus strives to overthrow Zeus
and wear jeweled crown of authority
that binds our spirits to obey the Lord
who controls the food supply as Loaf-Ward.

From hibernation of complacent faith
Orion wakes in cavern of the dead

I strip my soul of satisfied contempt

Forsworn from stories of desiccant hope,
that fortune promises would wreck my plans,
I dare row frail canoe in gloomy swamp
where ghosts explore new options of intent,
too eager to invest in roots of trees,

Resilient through tenderness of hope
with passion from immediacy of fear,
she teaches me to inhabit my body
at intersection between truth and dare,

Asking each abandoned god of mankind
secret code of their name written in stars
and tale of how they gained their superpower,
I written their stories in the Book of Gods,
for every one was once some mortal human
endowed with divine spirit of the world.

Stocking library shelves in every town
with volumes that record their noble deeds,
I read to children in the afternoon
so they know tragic comedies of fate
performed by lost gods of the human race
whose failures and successes guide our way.

Constructing castle on high jagged rock
that juts out into seething sea of faith,
I host the ghosts of those forgotten gods
at grand feast of divine apocalypse,
then afterward we hear blind Homer sing
epic tales of their lives for all to hear.

Exploring mystery of our primal being,
which emanates from our conceptual bodies,
I wear mask of each god on Wall of Fortune
so I experience passion of their souls
which urge our quest to find the Promised Land
we must create with hands of loving faith.

Analyzing how leaves of trees transform
light and rain to sweet fruit we humans eat,
I savor pleasure of each conscious brain
that has ever dreamed on this spinning globe
so all their memories stored in fairy tales
become my memory of the human race.

through repetitious actions of creation,
I focus attention of my free will
on performing my part in social game
as crucial function of constructive play
in our global food-production machine.

Extracting matter from heart of the Earth,
I transform compositions of swift atoms
from minerals to functioning machines
to support grand vision of the state boss
who orchestrates separate actions of work

Together we create empire of faith

in well-connected supply chain of need,

that ends in soft silence of nothingness,
after mountain rapids of our frantic youth
we drift on broad delta of solitude
in calm acceptance of our final death
after working to help build state of peace.

Through all the twists and turns of random fate,
where we find ourselves on some crowded stage
stuck in uncontrolled drama of weird scenes
that leave us wounded in miserable pride,
we progress toward achievement of success
that we define after we have arrived.

While wandering nowhere on the signless road
as I hitchhike from sea to shining sea,
from Oregon east to the fantasy land
where my ancestors first arrived from far
across the sea four hundred years ago,
I follow unseen spirit of my heart.

Only now, after more than sixty years,
can I pause in the Shaconage Hills
and look back on random road of my life
to see the goal for which I always strived
as Guiding Star that lead me to this place

Weird beauty of illusion in my mind,
which my eyes perceive on surface of things,
emanates from essential core of being
and motivates intent of my fierce heart
to strive with passion to transcend contempt
so I build wealth on program of success.

Asserting domination of control
to manage wild chaotic swirls of change,
I breathe ethereal beauty of respect
that channels fierce aggression of blind fear
through weird disfigured mask of angry god
who wastes his energy in futile rage.

Rendered impotent through reckless exertions,
when he lashes out misdirected strikes
at shadows he regards as enemies,
the greedy tyrant stumbles as he flails
against honest walls of reality
till he expends his rage in useless deeds.

Still able to assess dire circumstance
that traps our bodies in perplexing maze
of bitter regret for impulsive choices,
we bond our sore hearts in courageous quest
to fight against cruel tyranny of greed
so we can free our souls from unjust laws.

Though we seem to be scattered in despair,
wandering pointlessly in the waste land,
and rail with ineffective eloquence
that details crimes against humanity,
we trust that bold providence will provide
clear-eyed messiah to lead us from Hell.

United in one purpose to achieve
strong democracy through justice for all,
we join our hearts in communal respect
to rise from rubble of our fallen nation
and build new world state based on Liberty
with courage to defend our equal rights.

So I would like to hallucinate God
and argue with Her about Good and Evil
personified as Godin and Evilla
who fall in love in the Garden of Eden,
and through their passionate trust and respect
populate the whole Earth with Calibans.

I wake from dream to hallucinate God
as monstrous beast that lurks in human hearts
set free from gold cage of morality
by harsh humiliation of abuse
as angel of compassion metamorphs
in cruel dictator terrified of death.

I write weird book to hallucinate God
as old bearded man clutching sword of death
who looms enormous as black thunder cloud
and hurls aggressive spears of lightning bolts
to smash illusions of the Narcissist
whose faith is fractured into fantasy.

I devise plan to hallucinate God
as silver-eyed wolf of the mountain vale
who races with me on conceptual wings
along the winding river of desire,
exploring mystery of the human mind
embodied by the demon with sharp teeth.

Still unable to hallucinate God
by cracking mirror of the cosmic eye
that spirals out from black hole of soul light,
I wear mask of Zeus on Halloween night
to play role of judge over right and wrong
by deciding who gets to live or die.

Programmed by faith to hallucinate God,
I incarnate my soul as Jesus Christus
who sacrifices his life in punishment
to save his people from harsh slavery
when he defeats the tyrant in the tower
that cracks and falls at lightning strike of truth.

I sing dream spells to hallucinate God
as Aslan, spirit of the Holy Land,
who reigns in temple of the vatic seer,
assigned to prophesy heroic deeds
of wise messiah who appears on Earth
every eighty years to rebuild the world.

Since I will never hallucinate God
as more than my face in mirror of hope,
I map whole history of humanity
on time-animated atlas of Earth
so we can study progress we advance

Earth Will Never End

Apocalyptic glow of evening light
when the sun glares at me through quiet trees
reveals to me that Earth will never end
for globe of bubbling chemicals will spin
billions of years more in the starry void
so I never have to tell you my love.

Four horsemen gallop on the windy plain
with scales and swords of legal punishment
when they attack traitors on thrones of power
to drive dictators from towers of fear
which frees the people from cruel tyranny
so we can tell each other of our love.

Lost in endless maze of bureaucracy,
forever filling out official forms
which grim-faced clerks declare are incorrect,
we wander homeless in dark city streets
to gather under bridges where trolls lurk
intending to sell illusions of love.

Smoking cigarettes in seedy cafe
beside abandoned radio factory,
Mercury ponders the meaning of life,
then tries to call the pretty castle spy
who never answers office telephone
with secret information about fate
wizards need to construct engines of love.

Though I rarely hope for justice to reign
while trudging toward final home of my grave,
I surf the tidal wave of social change
that sweeps nationalists and racists away
and cleanses fertile meadows of the world
for the rest of us to tend gardens of love.

Because it is the journey that counts more
than our arrival at the Promised Land
I keep on walking past the pearly gates
to map graceful curves of bright river streams
where villagers gather in ring of stones
to celebrate marriages of true love.

Small cat who sleeps on shelf of well-read books
beneath clear window of the shining world
transforms into Griffin with ruby eyes
who soars above the endless maze of myths
to photograph every city on Earth
as holy satellite of divine love.

When demons Zepar and Naberius
lead Christian soldiers into holy war
to fight crusade against wise Lucifer,
I walk ten thousand miles to sea of eyes
where maple leaves fall in the morning fog
from which emerges brave princess of love.

to transform dirt and rain into fine pollen
that bloom into nutritious fruit of souls
so Kathy at the import business office
records transactions in the book of ghosts.

Riding crowded bus across the glass bridge
with faceless people to bright offices,
Kathy ponders how alligators live
alone in dreary swamps of Florida
while robots and wizards play games of chess
that manage how stock markets rise and fall.

Analyzing purchase data in spreadsheets
that order transactions of sales receipts,
Kathy calculates balance of income
in fraught relation to expenditures
concerning profits from foreign imports
that cycle products from factories to stores.

Caressing petals of the scarlet rose
with admiration of the pious nun,
Kathy considers checks and balances
designed to mitigate excessive risk
with careful observation based on flow
of snow-fed rivers tumbling to the sea.

Our world commercial enterprise is built
on focused people who manipulate
material structures with creative hands,
transforming dirt composed of minerals
into food, clothes, vehicles, and machines
that form infrastructure of our stage.

Running in rainstorm to the hospital
past hundreds of cars stalled in traffic jams,
Kathy finds wizard of fiscology
dying in bed from sudden heart attack,
so she holds his hand and vows to maintain
secure process of financial transactions.

Head swollen with importance of his role,
the stock broker in pinstripe business suit
declares prophets of the pyramid scheme
dispense fake profits to all who invest,
but Kathy ignores trickery of his scam
and maintains focus on financing work.

Shocked she got sucked in soap opera of greed
enforced by thief wearing businessman mask,

to ask the eyeless god if she can see
pure essence of the soul in bodied shells
that vibrate with eccentric buzz of wind
too lonely for the jagged stone of fear
to understand why nothingness is real.

She digs potatoes from sun-hardened clay
to ask the handless god if she can take
bright treasure of the emerald from the Earth
and sell it to the mad king in the tower
who asks if she will marry him again
as she runs away to the river plain.

She watches silver moon of innocence
to ask the faceless god if she can play
important role of accessible queen
who listens to complains her people share
before she renders judgment based on truth
about finality of spirit death.

She drives her piston-engine car of fate
to ask the legless god if she can run
ten thousand miles from sea to shining sea
in ancient quest to find the Promised Land
described by prophets in the Holy Book
her father burns to warm cold winter nights.

She draws new navigation map of fate
to ask the heartless god if she can love
every person ever born on this globe
who fight over scarce resources of faith
in constant conflict between old world views
over who will control the narrative.

She wields the gem-tipped scepter of desire
to ask the mindless god if she can know
weird secret of rebirth designed by hope
to generate new child before we die
which replicates immortal soul of genes
as we evolve four hundred million years.

She tears frail pages from the Book of Fate
to ask the wordless god if she can write
new global myth of progress humans make
from warring factions of nationalist pride
to prosperous United Nations of Earth

which transforms into silver butterfly
who tells her how quick invisible waves
send ghostly voices to the radio
to sing inspiring hymns of faceless gods.

If see feels words crack foundation of truth
she gathers fragments of our old world view
with desperate plan to puzzle history
by reassembling timeline of world wars
to prove that tyrants always trick themselves
because they expend too much energy.

If she tastes buzzing sorrow of respect
she wears mask of the humble puppeteer
with mission to teach children how to read
so they dream history of the human race
since we tamed horses among apple trees
then rode from Scythia to Scotland west.

If she recalls the true name of her child
she reigns on pyramid of fractured skulls
with sacred scepter over human minds
who must accept the tale of her success
because she founds new dynasty of queens
who prophesy from golden cage of truth.

If she decides to train heroic guards
with mission to protect their princess brides
she rewrites rules of social interaction
with laws that restrain aggressive attack
to help maintain corporate prosperity

for war between Jesus and Jupiter
