Seeing groups of Canada #Geese
Attempt a slow landing . . .
Skid . . . Slip . . . Skate . . .
onto icy mill pond was hilarious

They were so offended!!

Promptly trundled off in a narrow line
to settle into melted shallows.

It happened 4x one group after another.
Maybe 48 in all.

Plus mergansers, brant geese and a huge hawk.

It started with setting a timer on my phone to remind me when my toast is ready. Soon there were half a dozen timers running at any one time.

I started using the term β€œexo-cortex” around the time silicon-me was answering most of our emails (remember them?!).

As more and more tasks moved to metal, we set up a caching layer to take the load off the protein-brain.

When the last bit of protein died we didn’t even notice.

I am not interested in discussing politics, world affairs, etc. so let's keep to coffee in this conversation, please. I find it laughable that everyone is going crazy over the tarrif on Columbia. Does no one else (barring the Coffee group here, obviously), realise that there are thousands of coffees that have nothing to do with Columbia? Coffee is grown all over the world, in many varieties, roast levels, altitudes, etc. That doesn't mean that when you drink coffee while out, the prices won't increase, as many places do use Columbian. But certainly, if you brew at home, you should be fine. I can even recommend a wonderful company that donates twenty percent of every purchase to helping animal shelters. Their focus is dogs. Please feel free to recommend other companies with high quality coffee, as long as they're not involved in politics.

The small Himalayan nation of Bhutan is unique in that it has a nature reserve dedicated to a mythological creature. The 'Migoi' - a Yeti-type animal - is not only known for its size and strength, but is also seen as having magical powers. It can turn invisible and travel backwards to avoid being tracked by humans. The creature is also said to exude a foul odour. Its sanctuary - in the eastern Sakteng region - means it is free to roam happily amongst the pines and rhododendron. #folklore #cryptozoology #magic #paranormal #weird #mythology

#Introduction

I've programmed computers since 1984 (liw.fi/40/). I was part of #Linux from the beginning. I was a #Debian developer for about 20 years (1996-2018). I care about #SoftwareFreedom and #CivilLiberties. I think about #backups. My main hobby is #OpenSource development. I have too many personal projects (app.radicle.xyz/nodes/radicle.…). I work on #Radicle (radicle.xyz/).

My other hobby is classic European men's style. I like to wear a #suit. Preferably with a vest.

Edit so people get to it first, I'd love to discuss these in my podcast if people don't mind. My wife (who's sighted) doesn't get it.
My possibly bizarre version of #Synaesthesia means that words have feeling associated with them, as in my fingers can actually feel what that means.
Having just heard the word 'Utah' in a youtube video, it reminded me that both 'Utah' and 'Uber' feel the same.
They both represent an average car tire with very new treads. No, don't ask why, I have no idea.
Some days of the week also have their associated feelings too, such as Friday being a huge soft spongy ball, Saturday being a Yale lock, Monday being a large camping-style water barrel you can pull along behind you, and Tuesday being the lid of an old-fashioned sweet jar with those huge glass lids that had a ball for a handle, if anyone remembers those.

I haven't heard of anyone else with this particular version of synaesthesia, so I'll just put my madness out there to start a conversation.
Go wild.

Orange-crowned Warbler

Nondescript warbler, generally olive-colored overall, but different populations vary from grayer to brighter yellow. Overall very plain and unmarked, but note short darkish line through eye and thin pale eye arcs. Forages for insects in scrubby areas, woodland edge, and thickets. Namesake orange crown is very difficult to see, and usually only a faint wash at best. More common in western North America, from Alaska to Mexico, where populations are brighter yellow-green. Birds in eastern North America are scarcer and drabber, often with a more contrasting grayish head. Bright yellow undertail coverts help separate Orange-crowned from the similarly drab Tennessee Warbler.
