Setup new node - cannot connect to outside world
Hi friends, I hope you can help me with this - first my excuses for asking such rookie questions because I'm totally green to this stuff ;)
I have my profile now on friendica.world, but with another prophile I'm trying to setup a new node with Elestio on a Scaleway server. 001.fediversenederland.nl/
All fine, but the server does not seem to connect to the outside world. There are no channels visible, and when searching it finds only posts from the same server (only one account yet, which will be mine, with only one post ;) ). In the admin settings the global guide is set to dir.friendica.social and this shows as a link in the welcome-widget, but if I click it, it opens in a new window.
This could be a bug in the installation but it can of course easily be a very basic setting or configuration that I overlook. Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance!

So ... this is my first step here, as there are so many posts on this medium beginning with words like this. I wonder if Friendica is the longed for alternative for Facebook it promises to be. Just as a starter, here's a famous picture:
And this reveals that in the aspect of microblogging Friendica already beats Facebook, by the possibility to add typography, a title, and alter pictures and text in one post.
What is of course a downside is that like all I am still searching on how to use the interface, and the lack of content of my friends and groups I miss. But there have to be ones that make the first steps to begin the stream of content.
What is another plus, is that I managed to root my Bluesky feed into Friendica and found out how to filter it. So far so good.

Jazeker. Als je op je profiel rechtsboven klikt en dan 'instellingen' vindt, zie je daar bij "sociale netwerken" dat je Bluesky kan activeren. Er wordt gevraagd om een app-wachtwoord dat je aanmaakt op Bluesky onder instellingen > privacy en beveiliging app-wachtwoorden. Ik denk dat je er zo wel komt! 😀

Oh, en als je dat hebt dan kan je onder Protocollen links filteren van welke kanalen je content ziet: Friendica, BS, of beide.

in reply to Kees Alders • • •You probably have gone through all the settings, but anyway, check that you don't have for example "Only local search" enabled.
How long your server has been up? If not for long, I would suggest that you just wait for couple days. When I set up mine, it seemed that there was nothing at first, but gradually more stuff became visible.
