Spotify Wrapped
With #SpotifyWrapped trending, they also gave me my top songs and artists from this year. There were no real surprises, even though I had thought some artists to be featured more prominent.
Some people love Spotify, some hate it. Reasons for loving it: many songs and artists available to you when you have an internet connection. Reasons to hate it: they donโt pay much to artists and some say they donโt keep your data safe. I feel mixed about it, and since my funds are low, I will keep using it. Butโฆ There is a butโฆ
I try to support all artists that I really enjoy! So when I discover an album I really love, Iโll use Google to find a cheap cd or vinyl version of it. I used to be able to buy more to support more, but since the divorce my funds are low and unfortunately, cdโs and vinyls are still rather expensive hereโฆ I do import some when itโs cheaper. But still, it costs quite a bit compared to some other countries.
Iโll give an example of the latest Disturbed album, Divisive. I search Dutch online stores for both the CD and the Vinyl (searched on December 2nd 2022 while writing this post). Cheapest CD version is โฌ21,99. Or โฌ18,99 with โฌ2,95 shipping costs for another storeโฆ Cheapest (black) vinyl I could find was โฌ36,99 with an added โฌ2,95 for shipping.
So then โฌ15 a month (I share my account) for Spotify seems like a good deal. I would love to pay a few euros more every month is it meant more money for the artists. I try to save up for cdโs or vinyls of the albums I really love. Latest vinyls I got were Pop-up Dynamo! by PG Roxette (2022 release) , Zeit by Rammstein (2022 release) , Mind Control by Mono Mind (2019 release) and Divisive by Disturbed (2022 release). So I really try to support the artists I enjoy. And I also love collecting. I have quite a few CDs, at least I think soโฆ ๐

My CD collection, includes albums and several singles as well.
So, 2022 had some nice new releases for us. The ones I enjoyed most, I bought the vinyls of ๐ although Mind Control is from 2019โฆ But according to Spotify, I really played a lot of PG Roxette, as his songs are high, very high, in my music listโฆ I made a small video of my top songs of 2022, Iโll share it here. ๐

I really thought Rammstein and Disturbed would have been more present but I guess I played them less than I thought? ๐ค

55.461 minutes. How long is that in hours? Or days? Letโs calculate ๐. 60 minutes in an hour, meaning 924,35 hours. A day has 24 hours, so meaning 38,5 days. I get thatโs not a lot, but stillโฆ Compared to last year, I listened a lot more! Guess not having many lockdowns meant more gym time which also means more Spotify timeโฆ Letโs see what my small list looked like last year.

So Roxette stayed, even got higher due to the new albumโฆ But I did listen to all the bands I listened to last year, just less ๐.

My favorite PG Roxette/Roxette song was The Loneliest Girl in the World. I played that song a whole lot when it was just released and the list shows thatโฆ Still, my favorite song from the new album ended up on number 2. Probably because the Loneliest Girl was an earlier single and I played it on repeat at the gym when it had just been released. ๐
My first non Rox favorite was this song:

Dynazty with Presence of Mind
I played it a lot when I first discovered it. It was a great song for the gym. I also loved the whole album, The Dark Delight. I found a not too expensive copy of the album, just very low funds so Iโll order later when I can.

My favorite songs back in 2020. As you see, some bands stay with me and others have slight variations, often depending on releasing new material or me wanting to hear the olden goodies again.
While I totally understand people not using Spotify, I hope no one will hold it against me that I do use it a lot. As said, I always try to buy the music Iโm enjoying on physical release. Bevause I want to support the artist(s), because I love collecting. But the costs are high here, unfortunately, so sometimes it takes a while before I can purchase a new (or old) release.
I had no saves from the 2019 Wrapped. It was the first year with my new account (made a new one after the divorce, I shared one with the ex and needed a fresh start). So I made a screen grab from the playlist of that year.

First year with a fresh account. I was battling a bad depression for many months of that year, so the playlist will reflect that, Iโm afraid.
Today I combined all 4 of my Wrapped playlists into one big one. I had about 30 double songs, as itโs usually around 100 songs in a playlist and the mix is 370 songs long (24:55 hours:minutes).

When put on shuffle you get a good idea of some of my faves during the last 4 years. You know thereโs Roxette there ๐.
Do you enjoy music? I always like the Wrapped. I made a โCynnifestโ through an app site a while ago, based on my all time music listening on Spotify. This is the โposterโ of my 3 day festival:

in reply to Maj1, THE Astrosquirrel • • •Good moning, squirrel guru. Speaking as a retired pensioner, Tuesday looks remarkably similar to Monday, but it's a grey start to the day in Norfolk. Sun promised later, birds singing outside the window, all good in our little enclave.
Chatsworth is beautiful and, since the demise of Lincoln's, it's now our favourite Christmas market by some margin. That's probably not on at the moment, so lunch seems like an excellent alternative!
Have a good oneโฆ

was interesting but will be for most who have complete mobility and vibrations that do not effect body functions to fail like joints and why I cannot ride horses any longer ...

Unknown parent • • •That depends on whether four hours repairing a 3D printer constitutes a good day in your book ๐คฌ
It's now more working than it was, not perfect but better - I'll take that ๐
Seems Lincoln got too successful for its own good - 150,000 people descended on the city, health & safety, insuranceโฆ
But it sounds like your day a pleasant one, which is good, and you've reminded me to get my social secretary (SWMBO) looking into a night or two of suitable accommodation in the Chatsworth area for this year's festivities!
Another natter soonโฆ ๐

True story: I bought my #3Dprinter as a recon and it failed after a month or so. Let's just ignore the genius who decided that parts of the hot end of a machine that melts plastic should be made out of the same plasticโฆ
The company who sold it to me couldn't get the requisite spare parts but *could* get a file to print them. They printed half a dozen and sent them, then emailed the file. Whenever I need a new one, I fit it and then print three more, to be on the safe side!
That aside, a Christmas Eve stopover sounds an excellent idea, although the market is more end of November/early December. It just takes away that "I've got a two hour drive home" worry. And, "Hooray! More cider."
