Die dag dat Nederland massaal opstond
Gisterochtend sloten Puck en ik aan bij een flyeractie van New Neighbours Utrecht. Puck durfde het zelfs flyers te geven aan vreemde mensen. Ik vond dat zo moedig!
En zo stonden we als bakfietsmoeders toch te proberen weer wat hoop de wereld in te slingeren.
Ik was blij verrast door het aantal positieve reacties. En wat meer talen op de flyer zou fijn zijn. Ik heb de flyer aan de Engelssprekenden uitgelegd en gevraagd het aan een volgend persoon door te geven. Dat werd een mooi idee gevonden. Onder het motto van improviseren en verbinding 😄
Onderstaand de tekst van New Neighbours Utrecht:
“Hoe herdenk je de Februaristaking die vandaag precies 84 jaar geleden ook in Utrecht werd overgenomen? Wij kozen voor actie.”
De arbeiders, trambestuurders en anderen die die woensdag in 1941 de straat op gingen, deden dat met gevaar voor eigen leven.
Wij konden vanochtend vrij onze stem laten horen. De enige dreiging kwam van een boa die de meegenomen bakfietsen dreigde af te voeren. Maar die vervolgens heel vriendelijk was en helemaal achter ons stond en succes wenste.
Net als de boa reageerden veel mensen positief. Het geeft energie om dit te doen. De moeder die haar kinderen uitlegde waarom we hier stonden, de oudere man die blij groette met onze flyer in zijn hand, de middelbare scholieren die geinteresseerd het gesprek aangingen. Hopelijk krijgen zij zo ook de energie om zich uit te spreken of in actie te komen.
Waarom niet? Het vergt veel minder moed dan wat die stadsgenoten 84 jaar geleden deden. En het is net als toen wel weer nodig.”

@ujeenator Interestingly, for a judge she seems to have a very weak grasp of law.
What Swartz did was not theft. It was infringement. Copyright law uses a word that is different from theft because it is **A DIFFERENT THING**.
This woman was incompetent as a judge and should have been slapped down by a level up.
Why is it relevant what they use it for?
Did they have a permission to download it? If not it was illegal.
If so, I hope they signed the contract with blood and it cost Zuck jr.

Makes you wonder about the utility of IP a little... if corporations disregard others' IP (ie. Everything on the Internet) then perhaps we do away with IP altogether. Or greatly reduce copyright protections in favor of copyleft perhaps.

So the sheer data volume doesn't tell us much about how many pieces of text we're dealing with, how many papers, magazines, books. It could be huge libraries of fiction, history, politics, or philosophy, or it could be just a few books on botany or zoology with a lot of HR photographs.

Op die woensdag, 26 februari, 1941, besloten dappere inwoners van Amsterdam om het geweld tegen dat hun Joodse buren niet te normaliseren. Uit protest legden zij hun werk neer en inspireerden arbeiders in Utrecht om hetzelfde te doen. Er reden geen trams, de fabrieken lagen stil, maar de straten waren vol vastberaden mensen in solidariteit met hen die onderdrukt werden door de Duitse bezetter.
We zijn 84 jaar verder. Populisme, extreemrechts en puur fascisme leggen weer een donkere deken over de wereld én over ons land. Met hier een onkundig kabinet dat zonder schroom queers, moslims en vluchtelingen als zondebok aanwijst.
