Edit: my God, I just remembered! my comment contains the word "blood" in it, can you imagine? 😱😱 That means I would have been banned on it by the automod on Facebook for gore and violence. All while not caring about actual violence and gore reported by the users themselves.

(I should add "violence" to it, as well.)
So ... the filter works fine for text, and I just had to click the toggle to reveal its content, but what are the chances of people sharing pictures actually tagging their posts correctly? 🤔
(It says "filtered word", but does it auto-tag pictures as well? ... aaand I don't really want to "try" that one out.)

I don't know which of them was "first", but I've been on diaspora* since 2014, and added Friendica (and Mastodon) to my collection-of-accounts this year (2025).
They're similar to, and different from, each other. Each of them have their purposes.
From a connected-view, Friendica accounts can communicate both with diaspora* and Mastodon, but the latter two can't communicate directly with each other.
I have no idea about the "behind the scenes" parts. I'm on other people's servers ...
I still like diaspora*, because that's where I first dipped my toe into the Fediverse.

I like that comments on re-shared stuff on Friendica end up on the original post (and not as a separate post), but it can be a bit annoying to have a post pushed up to top-of-stream for every someone-else's-interaction-with-the-post that I maybe just thumbed up.
Comments, and posts, are edit-able on Friendica (and Mastodon). Not on diaspora*. This is both good and sometimes kind of annoying.
So, uh, the advantages with diaspora*?
"I like it, because I'm used to it"?
I interact with people there. (But I do that here on Friendica and on Mastodon, too.)
