Ello sweet (and sporty) Friendos

Good morning (#TZAG ) to you all!

After I've done some cardio at the gym, but skipped the strength bits, I decided I needed to do "something" at home.

So after the SniffiVerse™ walkies, I rode the hometrainer for 35 minutes. Then, I rolled out my fitness mat, and I used the abs-roller for a bit. I got my 3kg dumbbells and did three sets of two exercises.

Maybe it's not much... But I did something like this yesterday as well. So I'm hoping that the little things will add up. And that, hopefully, I'll get some confidence and motivation again, to kick some ass (preferably my own 😂) at the strength bits of the gym...

Usually, the Sunday to Monday nights are less busy. So maybe, fingers crossed and all that 🍀, I will be brave enough to get to some action again tomorrow night.

I did get some steps in with Arwen, and they're at 69% now. So hopefully, a few more walks with Arwen should do the trick there.

SniffiVerse™ walkies Toot

Ello frens and fans of Arwen

We're back on another adventure . It's 1°C at the moment, with a real feel of -2, but at the moment there's not too much wind, so it's OK to write for now. But I do have my gloves in my pocket, just in case.

I did some cardio again at the gym, 32 minutes on the seated bike, and then 8 minutes on the crosstrainer. That's all that my silly leg allowed me to do. Hopefully I can ride the hometrainer after walkies, and then so done of my dumbbell exercises. Maybe the gym will be less busy tomorrow night, and I'll be good enough to do some strength exercises again... 🫣

The dishwasher needs a "run" today, and I'll need to hoover the place. But for the rest, I should be able to do some exercises, get some walkies with Arwen, and (hopefully) game again with my friend. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that this time, the game won't crash and it will give us the "happy ending", including that trophy 🏆.

The moon is very lovely again tonight, which always makes me feel a bit better, as I just love the moon 🌖...

Ello sweet and lovely Friendos

I is back again! OK, I was already back here, replying to the notifications. And I asked a question to the beige "not a cult", about custom emojis... But now I'm caught up. And ready to write the Ello there Toot before I head to the seated bike. 😊

I had a very decent day yesterday! I *finally* managed to get some of the touching up of the paint done. When the sun started shining, I did see that I missed a spot when I did it (I never really noticed that spot before). But now I know how I can do it and not make a big mess of it, so hopefully that will give me the confidence to get the other white and then the purple done in no time... Or well, as soon as my AuDHD allows me...

I had a lovely time gaming with @Nio yesterday!! We just had one bummer... The game crashed on us in the final fighting scenes!! we should be able to restart it and do that bit again, hoping it won't crash on us again... We're so close to rescuing them all and getting the "happy ending" trophy 🏆.

Hopefully the weather will improve soon. They do predict some better days the next week, so fingers and toes crossed 🤞🏻 that they are right about that... 🌞 Next week will be a busy one, but hopefully a good one as well... But, first there is this Sunday to deal with!

I woke twice for the loo. The second time, I still had over an hour till the alarm, so I headed back to bed. When the alarm woke me, it took me a bit to realize what I was hearing and feeling (as my watch vibrates as well). So I got up and started my routine. Scale, clothes, meds, Arwen... She was happily eating when I got my bag and headed to the gym.

I caught up with the notifications while waiting for the meds to kick in. Then I headed to the seated bike. I almost made it to half an hour and then my leg started annoying me. When it settled a bit, I decided to try the crosstrainer, as I wanted to do something more. I managed 5 minutes and then the leg was annoying again. Ugh, is it time for that surgery yet? I hate the tingling that my leg keeps doing... After a massage in the chair, I got ready to head back home.

I had seen some folks at the railway crossing again, so I decided to be "wise" and I went the long way home, using the highway. It was a bit further, but at least I would not be surprised halfway home by the crossing being closed....

I got home, washed up, had brekky, and then Arwen and I headed out for walkies. There was a lovely almost full 🌖 moon, and Arwen seemed to have a good time. She had all the sniffs and even wanted the longer walk. It was dry, but there was a chilly wind and for some time I just watched some Cold Case, as I tried to warm my hands in my gloves. Brrr... Is it spring time yet? 😇

When we got back I switched clothes and got upstairs. I rode the hometrainer for half an hour, and then I managed a few other exercises. I went back down, switched clothes and all that and I made some food.

It was delicious 😋. Afterwards, Arwen and I went out for walkies. Then, I finally got to trying my idea for the painting touch-ups that I had been dreading to do for weeks now... And... I did it! I had a few slight drips that I tried to clean up best I could. But... It sure made a difference! 😁 Later I'd see that I missed a bit, so I'll have to do another bit the next time around. But for now, many bits do look better already! Yay!

I did the laundry and then swept the floors. Another walkies with Arwen, and she was a happy gall, as the neighbor was out as well. When we got back, I booted up the purple beast (my PS5) and I started the solo play of "The Devil in Me". I managed to make a wee bit of progress. But unfortunately, I missed a few things... Ah well, I already knew I had to do it again anyway... Then, my friend texted me that they were getting ready to come online as well. So I played to a save point and then we started the co-op play.

All went well, and we did our best, and we made it to the final fighting scenes... And then, almost at the end.... The game just froze up on us! 😵 Ugh, we were so close to getting the "happy ending" and the trophy 🏆 that comes with it... There was no time to restart the chapter, as Arwen and her friend wanted walkies... So, hopefully, we can try again tomorrow... 🤞🏻 Hoping it won't crash then...

We had a nice walk with N&B, but the wind was rather chilly, and there wasn't a lot of sun. When we got back, we relaxed on the couch with some Downton Abbey, until it was time to get ready for bed.

I didn't see if Arwen did something, so I went to bed a bit uneasy, and I changed the alarm a bit. I heard Arwen being a bit restless, so before I undressed, I took her out again. But she didn't do anything again, so yeah... I just took some of my sleep time away by adjusting the alarm, and I went to bed...

I woke once for the loo, and then when my alarm woke me. I think I had a very weird dream when the alarm went off, but I can't really recall it... 🤔 And then it took me a bit to remember which day it was. 😂 Ah well, what a way to start the new day...

Much of the difficulty in realising and accepting that we are autistic much later in life comes, in part, from the fact that we have been exposed to so many ableist stereotypes of it through our lifetime. The rest from the reality that much of the information we may have, is either outdated, or such that we struggle to see ourselves in it. It means that we have to spend a considerable amount of effort both in digging out and dealing with our internalised ableism, a somewhat ongoing process for many of us, and also educating ourselves on the reality of what autism is.

Such education quickly reveals that what it mostly is, is a spectrum of difference. It really is true that no two of us are alike. It may only be in the difference in which something affects us, its intensity, or the degree to which it affects our ability to function or cope. Or it may be in the aspects that we experience that others don't and vice versa. We also have to realise that whilst autism is often described by the way that it manifests, in terms of the various traits associated with it. That doesn't mean that you have to manifest all those traits to be autistic. Nor does it mean that there is one and only one way that those traits can look. Each of us, in this, really are different.

To further muddy these waters. The older we are when we begin this process, the longer we've obviously lived. In other words, the longer we have lived with what being autistic meant for us. Not by name obviously, but in terms of the ways we've learnt, as often as not the hard way, what we can and can't do, how we struggle, when we don't, our strengths and our weaknesses. And we haven't just ignored this, as much as possible we've built our lives around it. Obviously not ideally, we didn't always have the knowledge to be able to set the right boundaries, or the paths we should, or shouldn't walk down, regardless of what others wanted from us or even how we thought we should be. But still, as much as we could, we walked a path that was a reaction to what we were. That meant that over time we could learn to hide and compensate, to try and take advantage of our strengths and fear our weaknesses, adjust and compensate. In fact to continually layer the products of false awareness and understandings, of guess work and trial and error, over our behaviours, like papering over a crack, until the original could hardly be seen any more and we could at least get by.

This is why it can be so difficult to realise that you are autistic and everything about it now. So much of what is described is the cause of our behaviour today, but not the behaviour itself. And seeing past that to the root of the behaviour and the way we are and that it can still be different from how others are, is the reason why it takes so long and why so much of it, is still an ongoing process.
