After several months being in the new place, I kinda have a routine. Itโs not ideal yet, but it works for now, and I need to find a way to make it work even better. So, Iโve been observing my current routine, Iโve been focusing on how things go now, and what I could do to make it better. Or, what I think will be better, as I wonโt know till Iโve tried. I want to go back to the schedule that I had in Cuijk, as it seemed to relax me a bit better than my current routine does.
Especially when I wake up way before the alarm is set to go off, and I canโt sleep anymoreโฆ I get to the gym too early, itโs still too โcrowdedโ for my linking. The roads are still busier. I get hungry earlier, making it harder to resist snacking during the day. So I needed to write out my current schedule and then see if, and how, I could make adjustments to improve it. I know that this wonโt be easy, as somewhere this year, Iโll also need to have surgery, which means that I have at least 6 messed up weeks where I canโt do anything properly at allโฆ
So, I got my routine as it is now written out:
- 22:30 alarm, if Iโm not awake already
- 23:00 โ 0:30 (depending how good it goes and if I can use the massage chair) gym
- 1:30 โ 3:00 SniffiVerseโข walkies with Arwen
- 3:30 โ 4:30 riding the hometrainer
- 5:00 โ 6:30 eating and relaxing, and sometimes some smaller chores
- 6:30 โ 7:00 walkies
- 7:00 โ 9:30 chores, relaxing, groceriesโฆ
- 9:30 โ 10:00 walkies
- 10:00 โ 13:00 relaxing, other chores, eating, gaming
- 13:00 โ 13:30 getting ready for the bedtime routine (meds, teeth, gym stuff, Arwen stuff)
- 13:30 โ 14:30 walkies with the neighbor and her dog
- 14:30 โ 22:30 (if Iโm so lucky) bed time
So yeah, that has been the routine since the summer time ended and the doggos didnโt want to wait till 14:30 for walkies anymoreโฆ
The first thing I want to try is to add an hour. So weโll walk at the usual time, and then I will do something relaxing for an hour. Iโll beg Arwen to do a wee after that hour, fingers crossed ๐ค๐ป that sheโll cooperate. And then Iโll be in bed from 15:30-23:30, to start with. I wanna get back to something like 16-24, to see if that will work better.
But then Iโll need to change the morning routine some, as Iโll have less time to do the things I do now. So maybe Iโll work on the blog after the walkies with the neighbor? ๐ค
I have do try it out. I know my bedtime routine was later when I was still in Cuijk. I started later when I had just moved. It changed more since the summertime ended, and Arwen and her friend demanded earlier walkies. But I really hope that I can change things a bit later again. Getting to bed at 14:30 is a bit too early for me, even though Iโve been doing it for a while now.
So, slowly but surely, I changed the times. The neighbor and I still walk our dogs at 13:30 at the moment, though we do wonder if it will change back to the original 14:30 when the summer time kicks in againโฆ But I started with waiting another hour after the walkies with the neighbor. I am always hoping that Arwen will take a wee an hour later, before I head to bed, so that I can get the 8 hours in bedโฆ ๐
As I am writing this, Iโve only just started with the time change. I do feel itโs a little less busy at the gym when I get there an hour later, but Iโve been distracted by chatting with a good friend the first few days, so I just stayed with the cardio bits so I could chatโฆ But I do hope to notice a change, so that I can finally start doing some things in the real strength area again, as I do miss the Smith Machine exercisesโฆ
It felt weird, the first few days. I felt like I was โrunning lateโ, as apparently, I was very much used to the new time schedule already, even though it always felt โtoo earlyโ for me. Itโs weird how the brain works. One thing feels too early, and then you add an hour, and then it feels like youโre running lateโฆ ๐ค
But I have to try it out and see how it all goes. I think it does feel better. And maybe I will need to add another half hour or so to it, that Iโll go to bed at 16 and get up at midnight. But first, Iโll see how it goes with the โextraโ hour. I do hope that the gym will be quiet enough when I am not too anxious to try the strength area out again. I guess thatโs a downside of the gym in a larger town, there may be more folks that want to train during the โquiet hoursโ.
Iโve been trying the โhour laterโ routine for a bit now. So far, Iโve been lucky that Arwen did the wees before I wanted to go to bed, so I could have my alarm an hour later as well. Iโve only woken too early a few times, and that was usually around the โoldโ alarm time.
Getting to the gym a bit later does mean itโs a little less busy. Which is good for me, as that meant that Iโve been able to use the Smith Machine a few times already. And it feels good to be using it again. I get muscle aches, but they are good ones, as I trained the muscles and itโs not โjustโ silly fibro aches. ๐
(While I write this, Iโm dealing with some stressful financial bits that are not under my control, but they do affect me and my energy, motivation, sleep, anxiety, stressโฆ So I hope that things wonโt get too bad! Butโฆ I canโt control this as itโs all in one of my exโs hands and well, there is a reason itโs an exโฆ ๐ So yeahโฆ I hope that I can keep my routine, I hope that I can keep working on my health, I hope that things wonโt get too bad and get me in an even bigger messโฆ. But, I know my ex, and heโs stubborn and not always honest, so I would not be surprised if he would let this situation get messy and heโll drag me into this financial hellโฆ ๐ข So really, fingers and even toes are crossed that I can keep sane with the routine and that things wonโt be damned in the endโฆ ๐ค๐ป).

We had one "spring week" before spring, and now we're back to the "usual" winter time weather. But, next week they say, should be better weather again. So maybe you'll have better weather than too! So you can relax your muscles a bit now. And then hit it again next week!
