I've been seeing a lot about lists, ordering timelines, etc. But this is all from the perspective of Mastodon. Does Friendica have such features? If so, can they be accessed via Tweesecake? I know there are friends and circles, etc. I never really researched it. But it would be great, for example, to put all of the posts from Caturday in a list, so I don't miss them. I might also add those who post a lot, in general, to a list, so that I can still follow them and also see posts from other people or pages.

I think it would be best for me to plant a container garden, since it would be easier to manage, particular not being able to see it. Some of gardening is visual, whereas some can simply be done by touch. But for those who want something a bit more traditional, this does sound interesting.

There are so many great posts that I want to boost but don't because of images with no alt text.

It takes a little extra time but can make a world of difference to someone else.

Alt text is an accessibility issue. Imagine if some posts on your feed were just nothing, an absence, and from replies you know that others can see something that maybe you figure out from context.

Including alt text helps include everyone.

@CatMom916 @Jeremy McNaughton 📣️🍉️ I am totally blind. I will like a post without alt text if there is a good description in the body of the post, or if it's easy to tell what's oging on i.e. the picture is not important to the content. But I do love it when people write alt text, and some have been so wonderful that I commented directly to them! It's such a refreshing change from Facebook.
in reply to jmcnaughton

Related to this, good hashtags to know are alt4you and alt4me (not actually including the # so it doesn't take up space in a working hashtag). Sometimes there are good reasons why someone doesn't include alt text (often due to their own accessibility issues), but since it can be edited in after posting, including the alt4me hashtag can let people know that you can't write your alt text (for whatever the reason), but would appreciate someone helping out and providing one you can copy and paste in with an edit.

Working together, we can make Fedi more inclusive of everyone.

Georgie's Anecdotes
Normally, I cook for myself. But when my parents have something interesting, they offer it to me.
Me. "I think I'll finish those egg noodles. They should still be good, right? When did you give them to me?"
Mom. "Two days ago. You don't remember."
"No. I don't remember the days of food, just that it was good." (starts singing, parodying The Twelve Days of Christmas) "On the first day of November, my mother fed to me... I don't remember, but I know it was very good."
Both of us laugh.
Me. "I've been watching too much theatre."
Mom praised me, but I forget her exact words.

There really must be a way to filter posts and ignore conversations here and/or via Tweesecake. I honestly don't care who uses what platform. If Mastodon, Blue Sky, Twitter, Facebook, Friendica, or some yet unknown service works for you, use it. Why should it even matter, other than to help new users who are transitioning to these sorts of sites? I certainly received wonderful help when I first came to Friendica last month from Facebook. But I wouldn't put anyone down for using some other site. It's just great that those of us in the Fediverse can all communicate with each other. AT least, those on Friendica can do so across many platforms. I'm not sure how it works with the others. In my case, I moved from Facebook due to their eliminating their Basic Mobile site (not app), and I found some lovely people here.

Hi Georgiana, thanks again for your helpful feedback.

It sounds like you're trying to follow Communities using the Newsmast app which will ask for you to create an account.

As we spoke about the other day, we know there's issues here that we need to fix and hopefully will be able to soon!

If you want to follow our Community Feeds on vanilla Mastodon, you can do so by follow them directly from your current friendica[dot]world account. (1/2)

We have apps on iOS, Android and on the web.

newsmast.org is a our web app which has a number of accessibility issues and bugs which we'll work on soon. For now, our Newsmast app has been placed to the side until we finish our Channel.org service (which we hope will bring in more funding).

To visit the Community Feeds on a plain Mastodon UI or through whichever application best suits you, you can access and follow them from this thread of posts: newsmast.social/@newsmast/1118… (1/2)

Dear Idiots Outside,

When I say drag is interesting, I'm not talking about drag racing down a residential street at almost midnight!

Yours in annoyance,
Georgiana

Just for context, some people do this all of the time around here, and it's ridiculous! I don't even live in a big city, and yet, they race down the street as if their lives depended on it, sometimes much later than this, at three or four in the morning! It sounds as if they're on motorbikes, not in cars.

Occasionally, on Facebook, I would write funny things under the title Georgie's Anecdotes. So why not continue the tradition here?

Georgie's Anecdotes
My parents have been together for thirty-five years. They had a civil union in 2007 and were finally able to marry in 2013. Both times, my own excitement was contagious, to the point that they wondered if they or I were more excited! Today, both made me laugh. I wished Mom a happy wedding anniversary. She said she had forgotten and asked "how did you remember that?" I said "I always remember important things. Later, she spoke with Joanie, and she didn't even know today's date! Usually, she's the one to say it to Mom first. This year, I beat both of them!

You make a post, add a hashtag, and it’s immediately boosted by one of our Community Feeds - plus you get a notification. What’s going on?

We’re Newsmast and we’re all about knowledge sharing. We’ve built topical Communities, spaces that anyone can dip in and out of to get involved in the things they care about. Communities combine and curate posts from all over the Fediverse into an easy to access single source.

@newsmast @lgbtq Please immediately remove my account from your channels. As multiple people have told you for two years(!) now, you really shouldn't add people to an LGBTQ channel unless they actively opted-in to that (which I didn't). Not cool.

This sentence in your bot's bio "To post to the community just add #/LGBTQ to your post." is NOT how you get someone's consent to publish their posts on your bot channels. Really, really NOT COOL.
