If you have any family or friends east of the Dnieper, or in Russia, China or other non NATO former soviet States, advise them to get out as soon as possible.

Just looking at all the military flights openly available on Flight Radar for anyone to see suggests that an already unstable situation is about to get worse.

I'm so sorry you and your daughter are going through this, but I'm glad she has you to stand up for her.
in reply to Bishop Greer Godsey

well, this woman is known in the trans community as a transmedicalist or "truscum" and is in the same camp as, at the very least, Blair White. They definitely must be called out for their toxic and highly damaging behaviour, especially when we consider that there is more than enough gatekeeping from cisgender medics over who is and is not "trans enough".

For me, anyone who says they are trans is trans, end of conversation.

We interrupt your regular scheduled toots to inform you that grown up things have been cancelled for the rest of the day due to lack of fucks. The shortage is a result of mismanaged fuck distribution. Fedi friends are advised to go eat snacks, hug soft things and watch cartoons in order to replenish the supply. Please remember to distribute future fucks with precision and care in the future to ensure maximum impact.

Question 19

January 31, 2025:

How do you celebrate the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox? (Imbolc)

------

💫 All who are walking their path are welcome.💫

#witch #witchcraft #pagan #wicca #magick #wiccan #paganism #imbolc

in reply to Lydia Vvinters

Imbolc is an acknowledgment to me we are another step on the path towards spring.

I’ll light candles tonight and think of hopes for this coming year.

I’ll sow some flower seeds today and eat home grown food.

For nature and creativity I will be hedge laying and hurdle making today and tomorrow.

In laying the hedge it will stimulate new growth while in time making a stronger, safer home for wildlife. It will help to increase nature’s biodiversity. #Imbolc

Can you share the most profound experience you've had with witchcraft, where it genuinely affected your life significantly?

(How did this incident influence your continued practice and beliefs?)

At a Samhain ceremony a few years ago a goddess was invoked into a woman and we had the opportunity to ask her a question. This woman...knew things. Incredible experience.

#WitchyWritingWednesday Air

On zephyrs breathe, cast away distress,
World's weight seep down to toe's express.
From skin's flesh, heaviness recede,
In breath's sweet rhythm, serenity proceed.

Chilled bones thaw, in air's gentle dalliance,
Each lung's intake, anxiety’s defiance.
Mind untangles with each wind's affair,
As gusts dance softly through laid strands of hair.

Well sometimes people outside the USA call it International Handwriting Day, but there's no competing official international handwriting day, unfortunately.

I'm fine with that. It's handwriting, no reason to tie that to a certain bit of the planet. I'll see if I can find a proper way to participate and post something. Thanks for letting me know!💜

#fedicoven Q17 What rituals or magic would you recommend those facing their mortality?

I am not sure about a ritual as such, but sitting with Goddess in her crone aspect, prayers for enlightenment to Hekate or maybe some scrying in Selenite work for me.

Interestingly the first time I ever worshiped Hekate I was unemployed. A few weeks later I was in another country for a job interview and five weeks after that my whole life and career changed for the better and I have never felt younger.

Sometimes facing mortality in the way I did back then can change the way you look at not just death, but also life.

#fedicoven Q17 What rituals or magic would you recommend those facing their mortality?

I'd work with #Hekate and focus on green magic and plant a tree. It serves to normalize the ephemeral state of physical life.

Subsequently, I'd suggest stargazing in the moonlight. We are all made of stardust and will all be returning to that state.

The details of the rituals should be personal, but these two perspectives feel valuable to me.

Edit: Same typo

#WordWeavers MC POV: If you could make the antagonist do one thing that doesn’t involve anyone’s death, what would it be?

Freya:
"Make Ixtan love and trust my little Valentine enough to believe him when he says he doesn't need stolen energy to help the new generation of witches protect themselves but does need his family to do so. That way, he'll stop imprisoning him in this silent forest to empower Valentine with energy that isn't his."

Watching the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Disconcertingly 'good' white witch:
"Only evil witches are ugly."

What a world, indeed. I'm on Team Evil. She's much more open-minded about beauty standards:

#witch #movies

in reply to Lydia Vvinters

and yet from the wizard of oz came wicked. a much more fitting tail. because good and evil aren't all they're cracked up to be. there's shades of gray. so squee wicked. read the book, saw the musical twice. want to see the first movie.
in reply to Lydia Vvinters

@Lydia Vvinters ah yes, the white = good and black = evil trope has an awful lot to answer for, and needs to get in the bin.

Similarly with so-called ugliness or deformity always being equated with evil, it truly is a trope that has long since had its time and is also incredibly harmful.

#EngenderedWriting Are any gender issues overtly addressed in your genre?

Fantasy holds up a lovely symbolism-riddled mirror to the world.

We can see that authors explicitly address gender issues while others stick their heads into the sand.

Some use the excuse of historical accuracy to avoid the issues. I think that's a bit cowardly. If you can write about a purple dragon, you can certainly address gender issues when they come up in your writing.

in reply to Lydia Vvinters

@Lydia Vvinters I definitely discuss gender in my writing, with my first short story explicitly being about gender non conformity

@Lydia Vvinters for me a simple ritual whereby I will take something symbolic of that which I need to let go, and ritually burn it.

Welcoming the new can be more problematic for me though, and something I need to work on!

Antonia Epona 🌒🌕🌘 reshared this.

#fedicoven Q13 What are the processes or rituals you use to let go of the past and welcome the new?

Embracing the new is never a problem for me, but the past needs a bit of amputation on occasion. I'll write or draw the weight of what I need to release and send it out into the universe, either by burning or sending it out into the wind and do some cleansing rituals after.

Sometimes, though, the scars keep hold of the past inside me, and I need some help to do a joined spell.

#PennedPossibilities Do you remember the first thing you ever wrote creatively?

Sort off. I used to write before I could write. At around age four I think. I don't know if it's actually a memory or if it's a fabricated one based om my mother telling me about it.

I used to design my own letters and words with chalk on the walls of the house and "read" the resulting stories to my mother and sister.

@Lydia Vvinters the first thing I can remember writing was a poetic version of The Pied Piper of Hamlin.

Making up silly book awards:

- The "Writer's Enjoyment" award. For books that shine with the joy of writing.

- The "Golden Bowler" award. For the authors utilizing the almighty power of a lucky hat.

- The "It's a Book!" award. Because that in itself is worth an award.

- The "Nice and Niche" award. For those kindly flourishing in the smaller corners.

- The "Woke AF" award. Need I say more?

I might design a few of these.

Any awards you'd consider amusing?

#WritersCoffeeClub Are you inspired by the state of current world politics, or is your writing an escape from dark reality?

I write fantasy; it's a glorious bit of escapism, but we're all a product of our surroundings, so yes, there are aspects and conflicts inspired by the state of the world in there.
It's delightful to have a world full of eccentrics band together and fight against oppression and capitalism in the quirkiest ways imaginable.

I am sad it's necessary, but I'm glad to hear you're prepared. I can certainly understand if your heart is too heavy to create. I see that in a lot of my trans friends and family around the world.

The required vigilance is a heartbreakingly weighty burden. It's cruel that not only is there such hate in the world, but we're forced to keep an eye on it. Even when it literally makes us sick.

For now, I keep my spare bedrooms available and keep in contact more, just in case...

in reply to Lydia Vvinters

@Lydia Vvinters 💕

Being vigilant is what we need to do, and keep a bed spare for those who may need it.

I honestly thought that we had left the worst of this behind us in the 70s and 80s, but here we are, the thought of Trump, Le Pen, Wilders and Weidel being in power as heads of state and/or government terrifies me. We must do everything we can to keep them out !
