@Ryan Wild is the server down? I've checked the status page and it says that all is OK, but I cannot load anything on the laptop and my mobile shows nothing coming through for about 9 hours!

Can anyone confirm that the above Mastodon instance is down? I am getting Error message when I try the home page!
I have a profile on mastodon.nu
and it's experiencing outages now and then as well.
My guess is that the whole Fediverse is having an influx of new users, so it will be a bit crowded in the hallways for a while?
(I'm new to these parts of the Fediverse. At first, I considered moving to another mastodon instance, but now I think I should just keep my head cool for a bit.)
The instance admin has said there was "an issue communicating and authenticating with the database service", which caused it to go offline. I believe he is also checking joining requests now to try and weed out bots etc.

Can I fully block specific hash tags on Friendica?
I have blocked the hashtag "RoyalFamiliy", but see the posts without the content. I don't need to see posts that are hashtag filtered!

In light of the recent outbursts by the owner of X, twitter as used to be, asking if the United Kingdom should be liberated, then his rants against Ministers of His Majesty's Government and his use of what is known as the Nazi or Roman salute at Donald Trump's inauguration, should you still be using his 'services' as he becomes more and more blatantly fascist in his views? Similarly, should you still be using Meta groups social media, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, In light of their owner rolling back rules around hate speech and abuse.

Giving Friendica another go, so here's a bit of an introl!
I was born in a city in Yorkshire, known by the name of the river that runs through it!
Not sure how long I lived there because (one of) my parents became homesick and the family returned to the Red Rose side o f the Pennines - Preston in Lancashire, so my first memories are of growing up in a new council house during the '50s. I have lived in and around Preston ever since.
Got married in the mid '70's and she has put up with me to this day.
After secondary school I had a few jobs then worked for a major employer in the Preston area for almost 40 years before taking early retirement. Have now been retired over 12 years.
I like reading, mostly scifi, listen to various genres of music (eclectic mix), enjoy walking in the local countryside.
