I recently read a very interesting article in the newsletter of the Ivor Novello Appreciation Bureau. It was from 2007 (they really need some new content), and the author discussed a failed concert of Novello's work, headed by George Daugherty and David Lik Wong, complete with "Sinfonia Britannia, a full orchestra (to the exact size Ivor had specified for his London shows) plus a line-up of world -famous vocalists." The reason given for the failure was a lack of press coverage, despite the phenomenal performances and work that had gone into them. But now, it's 2024! We have the Internet as nevr before. We have live streaming, and our words travel instantly! So why not try again? And if we can't do a full theatrical production, why not do what Ivor himself once did and turn one of his plays into a radio production! While it would be ideal to work in a professional studeo, it's not even necessary, since parts can be sent in and edited to form one whole. This also does away with the need for sets (which can be extremely expensive in his case), costumes, etc. We can even include actors with disabilities but fantastic voices, since no one can judge them based on looks! This would be the perfect opportunity to let them shine based on their own merrit. All of Novello's works are in the public domain now, so we wouldn't have to go through endless battles and thousands of pounds to obtain the rights to perform one. My only request, and I can't stress this enough, is that we follow his vision as closely as possible and not modernize it! That drives me to distraction! I know it will be next to impossible to find singers of the calibre of Mary Ellis, Olive Gilbert, Vanessa Lee, Trefor Jones, etc. but at least, more people will be exposed to Novello's works. Then, if they really like it, we very well could bring them to a real theatre!

Update!. I found the post, and it still doesn't show the proper links, even when I go to edit! Now, I have to open Accessible Youtube Downloader, search for the videos, copy the links, then paste them in! This is ridiculous! Oh, and while I'm at it, there should be a way to view only original posts that I write, not boosts or replies. But this is similar to seeing things out of context in my timeline and not as normal posts with comments only after I click on them. This holds for both Friendica and Tweesecake, as well as any other clients I may use.
I am extremely annoyed. I wanted to copy a post of mine from here to Dreamwidth. Normally, this would just involve a simple copy/paste. I went to Friendica, searched for a tag that I know isn't used often but that I used for the entry, and began copying. But instead of finding the Youtube link that I posted, I found a shortened version that didn't even work when i tried it! Now, I must go back to Tweesecake, go through all of my posts for the last week, find the one in question, and go to "edit" to get the real link! That, or go to Youtube and search for the items. This isn't right. What I post should be what is seen. There should also be an easier way to search for posts, both on Friendica and on Tweesecake. If there is a way to search for a post via quotes and/or date, and I simply don't know it, I apologise.

I'm in awe right now, but I need some advice. For several years, I've been seeking the book that Beau Brummell used to learn Latin. I know it was Introduction to the Latin Tongue for the use of Youth. There were many different editions, including The famous, but later, Eton Latin Grammar. He attended Eton from 1786 to 1794. I have a digital copy of one published in 1795, wich fits the timeframe perfectly, but it's a mess when trying to read the "full text" with NVDA (my screen reader) or to convert the pdf to text. Likewise, I have one from about 1824-5 that is a reprint of 1795, and though it's a bit clearer, it's still full of errors. The hard copy reprints I've found are all pictures of the originals, not cleanly retyped. Just now, I found an original 1824 edition, and it's in clean condition! I'm quite afraid, because I am totally blind, and in order to read it, I must hold it and turn the pages so that my software can scan it! I can either use my ArX Vision, which I wear on my head, or my Pearl Document Scanning Camera with Openbook. Either way, I would be touching a book that's 200 years old! However, no one seems to have a modern copy that is retyped. All are just pictures of old editions, and when I try to convert the pdfs to txt, or to read the pre-made html versions (all at the Internet Archive), they are full of errors! This would be fine in English, but I'm using the book to learn Latin!
